First edition copy of Why We Can't Wait by Martin Luther King, Jr. Copyright dates are 1963, 1964. Stated first edition on copyright page. Library of Congress Catalog Card Number 64-19514, followed by printing code D-O. Price on jacket flap of $3.50. Believed to be the first issue.

This book is in it's original jacket. It is a former library copy and is in good condition to very good condition, in a very good condition jacket. The bottom edges of the boards have some rubbing and moderate wear partially exposing the boards. The top edges have a slight bit of rubbing, less than the bottom. The black spine with gilt lettering is in very good condition and is not frayed. The gilt is bright and intact. The gray boards are clean and not marked. There is a small bit of tape holding the jacket onto the boards, and this would leave a little residue if removed. The jacket itself is in a clear cover and is not torn. It may have a very light small crease or two but is not wrinkled or stained. It may be slightly aged, but I don't know how bright the paper was at printing. On the whole it is relatively bright with even tone overall. It is not sunned or streaked. There is a small sticker on the spine with the library's dewey decimal numbers on it. This looks like a piece of masking tape and could probably be removed without damage, if done with care. There is a large chip at the top of the spine. It is about 1/2 inch wide and has damaged the front edge of the first letter of the title, W.

The interior is mostly clean and without stains or aging. There are a few small marks here and there, and a few light pencil marks on some pages.

There are library marks in the form of a card jacket and a sticker on the front blank page. There are no stamps found in the book or on the page edges.

Illustrated with photographs. Extremely eloquent and profound.
