King Edward VII Type 1 private pattern crowns of the 'Patina Collection' (3 pattern coins in silver, copper & aluminium-bronze)
The Patina Collection was sold at Spink, London, in July 2001. Started in 1999 as a Millennium project, the idea was to produce patterns for the six British monarchs of the 20th Century . The project was never fully proceeded with. Pattern coins were produced for a selection of denominations & monarchs in Sterling Silver, copper & aluminium-bronze. Set mintages generally ranged from 475-750.
These three pattern crowns of the Patina Collection offered have a proof appearance & are 38mm in diameter. The obverse features King Edward VII, with the reverse dated 1901. The three metals are Sterling Silver, copper & aluminium-bronze
