Description. African amethyst is known as best in the world. Hard to come by, they are known to have the best colour and appearance. Setting the standard for gemstone, it is frequently smaller in size but has a more saturated colour than most from other parts of the world. Highly sought after and at a premium price because of the mining limitations, it is a beautiful stone to have in your collection.

Known as a healing stone since the ancient times, the amethyst is said to be deemed as "natures relaxant" for stress relief and it's ability to reduce negativity and  help alleviate anxiety.

About Us

Rock and Mineral Supermarket is an Australian based business that is run by a partnership. We are solely an ecommerce based business and are still learning about ebay (so please bear with us). We carry mainly gem roughs with an emphasis on Yowah/Koroit Opals and Jade (jadeite, nephrite) and we also carry some international high grade stones. All our roughs are of the grade stated in the description. A lot of time is spent in sourcing these roughs and the owner of this store is a hobbyist turned part time business.

We are also in the midst of building and making this store a better place for you. So please feel free to make any suggestions – as we will look into making changes for the better.

Postage and Handling (Please read before purchasing or bidding)

General Rules and Etiquette

We are not responsible for damage, mishandling or loss of your parcel. We always suggest that you opt for registered post where possible. This will safeguard your transaction, avoid unnecessary disputes and ensures that your parcel arrives safely and surely.

Postage and handling times – Generally there is up to 5 days handling and packing time. Please take into account that once payment is made, it will need to be verified, parcel packed and then taken to the post office.

Returns Policy

There is a 14 day money back return for these instances only

Please note Australian Federal rules in trading ACCC – Trade practices act.

Domestic – Australia

All parcels will be sent via regular mail unless requested by the buyer. We strongly recommend that you use regular post due to the possibility of mishap during the delivery of the rough and to avoid issues with damaged, lost or stolen goods.

Should you elect the registered mail section, parcels sent via registered post will have a tracking number in place. You can track your parcel anytime using http://www.auspost.com.au . Please advise if there is a problem with delivery. Registered post is automatically covered for insurance for the parcel. It will require signature on delivery for receipt of goods.

International – Worldwide

All parcels must be sent via registered mail otherwise no responsibility is held for lost items through the mail. Often with roughs, particularly opals are unique and we do not have spare stock around. If you do decide on using normal airmail, you risk taking the chance of the package and it is your onus to take that risk.

Parcels/items that are marked with free postage and handling are sent via regular mail. Please note your onus in any mishandling, loss or damage of the item/s

Economy air – average 14 days postage and handling time – not registered, not tracked and not insured (most risk)

Airmail - average 14 days postage and handling time - not registered, not tracked but insured and signed for delivery

Other International Post – refers to registered mail only. (no tracking but includes insurance and needs ID for delivery) – average 10 days postage and handling time

Express Post – Fast, quick delivery with tracking, registered and insured – average handling and postage usually no more than 1 week.

Please note that all countries outside of NZ, USA, UK, Canada & the EU must use registered post. We do not offer regular post.

Combined postage 

Combined postage cost varies on the weight of the item/s. Generally though it is the full cost of the first item and 50% off the other items. For example, if postage cost is $10 for the first item and $10 for the second item, the cost is $10 + (50% off $10 = $5) = $15 for combined postage. Please ask us to provide you with an alternative invoice so that you do not need to pay for the full amount.

If one of the items state free postage, then the first item is free and the second is 50% of whatever the stated price is and so on.

To make things less confusing, we have put a flat rate down as $5 per subsequent item. This will most likely be altered to make things a little more feasible the more you buy. The maximum amount to be spent for any postage under 500gms is $15 domestic and $35 international. Please ask for quotes on larger packages.

Payments and Second Round Offers

Payment must be made within 7 days of purchase or bidding unless excepted via communication. Second round offers will automatically be offered on the 8^th day. Should this occur, this may result in negative feedback unless in dire circumstances which will need to be communicated to us beforehand.

Should you have a problem with a parcel, you can contact us anytime via email: [email protected] or call us +61402559937 between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday Australian Eastern Standard Time. Calls outside this time may go to an answering message and will be retrieved during business hours. All messages will be noted and answered. Please leave name, contact details and the date/time you called and the item in question when writing to us so that we can retrieve the necessary information.
