Hello!  My name is Ryan Hurd and I am a bladesmith.  I am 16 years old and I just graduated from high school.

This is a beautiful machete that I made completely by myself.  I designed it one day after making a Spanish style knife. 

The statistics are:

Length:  14 inches

Blade length: 9 3/4 inches

Maximum thickness: 1/4 inch

This knife was handforged using traditional blacksmithing techniques.  It was recycled from truck springs so it is environmentally friendly.  It was forged extremely close to shape and then ground on a wheel grinder.  It has been hardened and tempered so you can sharpen it as you would an axe.  It comes very sharp so please be careful!

This knife was cordwrapped with 550 paracord.  It is an extremely durable cordwrap that the army use on their parachutes.  It is double wrapped to get the specific design that you see in the pictures. 

I have used several of these machetes that I have made.  They are gorgeous cutters and trimmers.  They are great for yard trimming and will take off limbs with ease.  We use one just like this as a shop knife and we take it with us when we go out sawmilling.

It was designed to have many uses:

1.  The blunt nose of the machete can be pushed along like a chisel

2.  The belly of the machete makes a perfect drawknife

3.  The cord wrapping can be undone and used when needed.

4.  The machete itself is perfect for splitting up small firewood for kindling.  The blade is designed to chop at a specific point and does a great job of it!

 

Overall this machete is a must-buy.  It is a tremendous multi-purpose tool.  It also has a great aesthetic appeal.  This machete is perfect whether you use it as you go through the jungle or use it as a unique display item in your collector's case.
