HI!  My name is Ryan Hurd!  As you can see, I am a bladesmith.  I am 16 years old and I have been trained under a terrific blacksmith.  I enjoy bladesmithing as well as blacksmithing and this is one of the results of that.

This knife has been handforged entirely by me.  It was recycled from truck springs.  This knife is my own design.  It has been hardened, tempered, sharpened, and honed totally by me.  It has a nice polish and some beautiful edge work that I did with a file. 

The handle is of spalted maple.  This maple came from a tree that was in a church yard.  It was sawmilled by me and a friend of mine and cut down to size.  It has been fastened to the knife with rivets that also were recycled from old welding rod ends. 

The sheath was also handmade.  It was made by an Amish harnessmaker that I know.  He lives down in Kentucky.  It is an extremely nice sheath.

This knife is special for several reasons.  First, it is extremely unique.  It was totally handmade with nothing for a pattern but my imagination.  Second, it is totally environmentally friendly.  All the materials are recycled or processed totally by me.  Third, it is a beautiful knife that can be used by anyone or just put in a cabinet for display.  It makes a great gift and is a collectable.
