The Legends Story

Legends, a division of Starlite Originals, Inc was founded in 1972, and for years has produced fine art sculptures for many well known companies. Legends introduced its first sculpture using the Mixed Media process in the late 80's. This process is a combination of fine pewter, bronze, 24K gold and various other precious metals and color patinas that give each sculpture a permanent life-like realism. The artist chosen to sculpt "A Tribute to Freddie", Pete Apsit, has always had an appreciation for the multitude of colors, textures and shapes of this world.

 

"A Tribute to Freddie"

Red Skelton's show business career began in 1922 and in his 75 years on stage and screen he became famous for his grand cast of characters that his admirers have come to know and love. On stage or in front of the camera, Red would transform into characters that could only be presented by the master comedian himself. "A Tribute to Freddie" is the first sculpture in this series entitled "A Tribute to Red Skelton", sculpted by master sculptor Pete Apsit. Pete truly captures the feeling and emotion of this great man as seen by Red's worldwide fans throughout his illustrious career.

As an artist of canvas and of other mediums, Red's direction and involvement in this project was an important part of the process. Red worked closely with the Legend staff to create this edition, and with the completion of the final foundry proof, Red and Lothian Skelton were proud to see this character come to life. Red Skelton's authorized signature is cast on each and every sculpture. Additionally, each sculpture is accompanied by a Cerificate of Authenticity ensuring the integrity of each authorized Skelton sculpture.
