~RARE Antique Amber Spider Sewing Nanny Brooch Pin~

This is like nothing seen before!  Normally when found, nanny pins are decorated with goldstone.  This is highly unusual in that it features a spider made of an amber colored stone with brass legs.  The body of the nanny pin is also brass.  It is an interesting piece in and of itself with the story being that in Victorian times, these pins were worn by nannies to enable them to repair the unexpected clothing mishaps of their charges.  As shown in the photos, one end of the case unscrews and is actually a needlecase and thread holder.  It is clearly marked "DRGM 632505" as depicted in photo. The nanny brooch features a c-clasp.  It measures approximately 1 and 3/4 inches in length.  In superb condition.
