Mouth-Watering, Eye-Popping
The first time I opened a can of premium shaving cream with a bursting bouquet of fresh limes, I knew I would never be satisfied with a hard puck of soap. The reason I began making my own shaving creams was because I was spending about 75 cents a day whipping up thick foam and slathering it on my face two or three times, as much to smell the Italian citrus groves in my steaming bathroom, as to prepare my beard for a comfortable, leisurely shave. And when I made my own, I wasn't satisfied until I'd not just cut the cost of self-indulgent shaving in half, but until I had even more decadent lime scent wafting out of my own cream than anything I could pay two, three or four times as much for.
Finest Ingredients
My
shaving cream is hand crafted from basic organic
oils, as well as extra liquid glycerin,
lanolin, and kaolin clay to
give the
slickest, most comfortable possible shave and leave your skin softened
and enlivened. I put more into this cream than you'll find in any of
the expensive European creams, for much less money.
Shamrock
creams contains generous amounts of kaolin clay. The best commercial
shaving soaps contain fine clays to slicken your face so the razor
glides across it,
giving a closer shave without razor "drag" or burn. The most expensive
shaving luxury creams leave this helpful
ingredient out, in order to get a more pearly look from the stearic acid
they add. I use the same ingredient to give my cream a fuller,
longer-lasting lather, but I also add the clay to give your
shave
a smooth, comfy glide.
Also, you'll look far and
wide for a cream containing real lanolin. Shamrock cream is more
than 2 percent pure lanolin, which leaves your face even
softer than
glycerin alone can make it.
A
Great Deal
Last of all, Shamrock's shaving
cream is a great deal. I decided to try making my own cream after
buying a Moss Scuttle so I could make HOT foam with a badger brush. The
drawback was, I was spending about 75 cents each morning, filling the
scuttle with enough British luxury cream to make the lather in the bowl
both thick and hot. Not only is this cream less expensive -- less than
half as much per ounce as Truefitt & Hill or other top brands -- it
also
produces more lather by weight than commercial creams I've used. Once
you dip
the brush and start swirling it around your face, it fairly explodes
into white, creamy, whisker-enveloping lather, with an even more
powerful aroma that opens your nostrils and makes you glad you're a man
who shaves with a blade.
