This is a square-tip, three-quarter-hollow-ground, 11/16-width Lee's Warranted straight razor with original box made in Chicago in the early-mid 1900s. The blade and scales are original and in virtually pristine condition. The blade's satin finish is unmarred by tarnish; there are no rust spots or pits. The box is original also and like others from its period is made of cardboard or layered paper; it's seen better days but the labeling is all legible. The blade is sturdy and thick and closes in the center of the scales without wobble or bite. The pins are tight and the scales barely show any sign of handling. I picked this up at an antique shop in Scipio, Utah, and paid a bit more than I usually do for used razors.

I like my razors to look good, but I only shave with a straight-edge and I restore these for the purpose of giving people a flawless shaving tool. The edge has been carefully honed on two grades of DMT diamond hone, two finer grades on a Norton water hone, lapped on balsa blocks with two grades of fine diamond grit and chrome oxide, then finished off with 60 strops on oiled latigo leather. The result is the only standard I accept: an edge that will cut a hanging hair at multiple points and deliver the smoothest, closest possible shave. With daily use and proper stropping and this razor shouldn't need to be any time honed soon. After sharpness-testing it's has been rubbed down with a silicone-impregnated cloth to give it a glossy moisture barrier.
