South Pacific Megalodon Shark Tooth

These Unique colored (pure white in the center) teeth come from the South Pacific Ocean 800 miles east of Austrailia  and a 3 day boat ride north of a small Island called New Caledonia. They are dredged from a 1000 ft down using a scoop 2 meters wide .The boat used for this operation the TUI 2 makes passes with in a 3 mile stretch .  The scoop is dragged for 30 min . Then it takes approximately 30 min to winch the scoop back up from 1000ft to the boat's deck. They do approximately 5 passes in a day. They would catch approximately 15 -140 teeth at pass.  The site is now protected by the french government and there wont be anymore issuing of permits due to enviromental issues..

This choice collector tooth  was scrimshawed on by our in house scrimshander . Scrimshaw is an 18th century art done by sailors by etching drawings onto whale teeth and filling the scratches with ink or other available material. President kennedy was a collector and very fond of this art form.( No relation to the artist) There has only been about several hundred of these teeth done . Each drawing was masterfully done with its own unique picture and has been sighned and dated. These teeth will increase in value over time ,as said they will not be dredging this site anymore
