Description: Being presented for sale is this fantastic American Empire Carved Mahogany Sofa with Four carved Hairy Paw Feet with High Rolled carved Cornucopia arms and fantastic Carved Returns circa 1850. This classical style carved mahogany sofa has a long rod-form crest-rail with leaf carved inward scroll ends above a flat-rail with serpentine ends with high roll arms with carved cornucopia arm supports. A long ogee molded seat-rail with block floral carved ends, highly carved fruit returns and four carved hairy paw feet. This sofa also has its brass casters intact on all four feet.The vintage replacement fabric is a cream off white background with rose pink and light blue floral with the sofa boasting of matching roll pillows. Measurements: This fine 19th century sofa measures a total height at the back of 36 1/4 inches, total length of 79 inches, with a seat width of 57 inches , seat depth of 22 inches and seat height of 17 inches and this sofa weighs approximately 100 lbs. Condition: Its evident that this sofa has been very well taken care of for many, many years.The fabric is in excellent vintage condition with no rips,only a light spot cleaning may be needed on a area on the seat on the left.We believe this fabulous period sofa to have its rich original finish on the mahogany wood.
