Being offered for sale is this beautiful Victorian Rosewood Triple Back Button & Tufted Sofa circa 1860.This 19th century sofa has all the charm and elegance one expects from the Victorian era and is executed in beautiful rich rosewood. This sofa features beautiful pierced carved crests on the triple back,half covered arms with scroll carved arm supports that join to the long serpentine seat-rail with applied carvings at the center , demi-cabriole styled front legs and tapered back legs with triple back boasting of button & tufted fabric.
This fine sofa measures 38 1/2 inches in height from the floor to the top of the center at the back, total length arm to arm of 78 inches, with a seat width of 66 inches, seat depth front to back of 22 inches and seat height of 17 inches and this sofa weighs approximately 100 lbs.
This sofa has older gold velvet covering and it does show some wear and some spots on the seating area. The covering on the back has a small tear on one side about 3 inches long. There are some old veneer repairs to a couple of areas on the crest-rail which I have shown in the pictures. These are done nicely in my opinion and not noticeable unless close inspection. There is a small piece of the bottom edge trim missing on the seat rail bottom on the right side.
This sofa has a elegant presence, is solid and tight and would be a wonderful addition to your Victorian decor.
