Being presented for sale is this fine Victorian Eastlake Walnut & Burl High Back Bed circa 1880.This bed offers beautiful incised carvings, carved rosettes, sawtooth designs and wonderful burl walnut accents, and a fine carved center crest. This lovely 19th century bed measures a total height at the head-board of 87 inches ( 7 ft 3 in), height of the foot-board measures 30 inches,the height to the flat portion of the side rails measure 13 1/2 inches.The outside measurements of the bed are 57 inches wide by 78 3/4 inches long and the inside mattress area measures 54 inches wide by 74 1/2 inches long and should accommodate a full size mattress set nicely but one should always measure their mattress set to assure proper fit. The total weight of this bed is approximately 115 lbs. There is a age crack on the next to the bottom board of the head-board which would be covered by the mattress when in place and I have shown a close-up picture of this......nothing real noticeable but worth mentioning. This Victorian Eastlake Walnut high back bed has a wonderful presence and beautiful carvings that are typical of the Eastlake style, and is solid and very sturdy and has a beautiful , elegant presence one expects from furniture of the Victorian era.
