Being offered for sale is this Impressive American Tiger & Birdseye Cherry Cylinder Roll Secretary Desk circa 1840. This early 19th century secretary desk is positively gorgeous with the birdseye & tiger cherry and this piece offers a multitude of storage compartments and drawers and a pull out writing surface behind the Tamboured Cylinder roll.

This desk measures 78 3/4 inches in height,43 1/2 inches wide and 21 inches deep at the base. This desk does disassemble into two sections for easier handling during shipping and moving. The pull out writing surface measures 38 3/4 inches wide by 14 1/2 inches deep and is 34 inches in height to the floor. This desk weighs approximately 125 lbs.

We believe this desk to have its original wood pulls and all the locks are intact but we do not have they key. The drawers feature dove-tailed joinery and well as the fine period dove-tailed joinery at the back of this piece....very early hand construction. The tamboured cylinder portion rolls up and down nicely and all the drawers open and close with ease. A beautiful early 19th century secretary desk that has withstood the test of time very gracefully with some little imperfections that totally speaks for its enduring time.
