I am pleased to offer for sale this spectacular American Empire Flamed Mahogany Chest with keys circa 1830. This chest has gorgeous matched-flamed mahogany on the drawer fronts,and the original wood pulls and working locks with 2 keys. This splendid chest measures 54 inches in height to the top of the shaped back-splash, height to the front portion of the chest measures 47 inches, 45 inches wide and 18 3/4 inches deep and weighs approximately 125 lbs. The chest has a beautiful shaped back-splash of matched flamed mahogany with a solid wood top,three smaller drawers each having a serpentine front, with four large drawers below; with all the drawer fronts also having matched flamed mahogany fronts. All the locks are intact and this chest has two keys, however the top small center drawer the key doesn't come out of the lock, but the second key works the other drawers.The drawer ends offer period early hand-cut dovetailed joints and we believe the wood pulls to be original, and this piece rests on four bracket style feet. This chest is solid and sturdy and has no issues we see;but does show normal character marks and signs of usage from the past 180 years. A fantastic early period chest that offers tremendous storage possibilities with classic timeless style!
