Being presented for sale is this superb Victorian Large Walnut Washstand / Nightstand with Open Carved Backsplash & Turned Towel Rods circa 1870. This is a wonderful larger washstand that would make a fantastic nightstand / bedside table. This piece measures 40 inches in height to the top of the backsplash,height to the top at the front measures 31 1/2 inches, 42 inches wide which includes the towel rods on each side, and 18 inches deep and weighs approximately 70 lbs. The open carved backsplash on this piece in rather unique and the original turned walnut towels rods on each side are a rare find. The drawer offers period brass and ebony pulls and early hand-cut dove-tailed ends with raised panels of walnut behind each pull and a fine carved roundel at the center. Double doors below each have shaped raised panels of walnut at the center surrounded by carved roundels at each corner and raised shaped framing accent these doors beautifully. Fine turned half short spindles adorn the top and bottom corners and a fancy carved skirt finishes the look of this great 19th century washstand.
