Description: It is an original copper engraved antique map by Alexix Hubert Jaillot, whose name appears in title and in the Cartouche. The date of 1711 appears in the bottom cartouche. It is from an edition of the Atlas Francais, published by Pierre Mortier who was in partnership with Jaillot after 1692. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic.
Size: The map image measures approximately 17 by 29 inches (44x73mm) on a 21 by 29 1/2" (53x75mm) page with a margin all around for matting as seen in the pic.
Condition: The map is in Fair to Good condition for its age in its original state. It is a very large map with a centerfold and a soft horizontal fold and a couple of soft vertical folds that are not very obvious. The map image is very clean with bright color on a bright heavy page of the highest quality of the period, blank on the reverse. There is a little double creasing along the centerfold and slightly trimmed side margins and edgewear along the edges with a couple of nicks and corner clipped slightly, but the paper is not brittle and very pliable. Overall a very nice antique map of the region that is rare to find.
