Description:  It is an original engraved Pre Civil War era antique map in great shape with original handcolor outlining. It is a steel engraved maps with evidence of the plate embossed around the edges.  It is from an 1844 edition of Black's General Atlas, published Edinburgh, Scotland by Adam and Charles Black.  The publisher and location appears in the bottom center margin and the cartographer's name appears in the bottom right. A copy of the title page of the Atlas is included for authenticity. It is a very nice rare large example by the famous Edinburgh cartographer Sydney Hall, who is probably better known for his smaller maps. Also shown are Guyana, Paraguay and other places.

Size: The map image measures approximately 11 by 15 1/2 inches on a 12 1/2 by 17" page with a a half inch or more all around for framing.

Condition: The map is in Very Good condition with only a slight darkening around the edges of the margin and some very light evidence of handling in the margins.  The map image is very clean and printed on a heavy weight flexible page with an off white color. No centerfolds.  It is a very nice example with original handcoloring and an antique appearance that will frame up beautifully.

Shipping to Italy: Due to ongoing problems with the Italian Post, an additional $10.80 for Registration plus the cost of shipping is now required for all shipments to Italy with the exception of small prints of low value, ask if you have questions.

Save on Shipping: We only charge one shipping fee based on the largest map or print with multiple items shipped along with it for no extra costs. Purchase 5 or more maps or prints and receive Free First Class shipping in USA or First Class International elsewhere in the world, although registration may be required on shipments of high value.

International Insurance/Registration: Registration is offered and may be required on all overseas shipments of high value at $10.80, without it we will not be responsible once item is shipped.  Registration is required for all shipments to Italy.

International Customs and VAT Fees: It is the responsibility of the buyer to pay all Customs Taxes, VAT or other fees that may be due upon arrival. These fees vary greatly from country to country and ebay policy is that the buyer is responsible for their country's taxes and fees. Please consult your country's Customs Regulations for more details on your country, printed matter is duty free in many countries. We declare the full purchase value as required by law.  Delays by Customs: Although most items arrive at their destination very quickly, we have no control over how long it takes an item to move through Customs, which can be held for up to six weeks in rare cases.
