Description: It is an authentic Antique map over 150 years old with original handcoloring as issued. The map has a copyright date of 1839 in small print in the bottom margin, although it was published in the 1850 ediition of Roswell Smith's Concise and Practical System of Geography (New York: Daniel Burgess & Co., 1850). A copy of the title page is included for authenticity. An interesting map that clearly shows the international borders for the Republic of Texas in its stove pipe configuration, but has been colored in acording to the US as it appeared in 1850 after Texas became a state. Also shows Alaska as Russian America and a lot of other interesting detail such as a US population of 17 million. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic.
Size: The map image measures approximately 8 1/4 by 10 1/2 inches on a 9 1/2 by 11 1/2" page with a margin all around for matting as seen in the pic.
Condition: It is in Fair condition for its age with overall light tonal ageing with original handcoloring, text on the reverse. It is basically as seen in the pics with a lot handling and soiling, bent corners as seen in the pics. The pics best show the condition. The paper is still very pliable and it certainly has a rich antique patina that would frame up well.
