Description: It is an original antique map with handcoloring as issued from an 1860 First Edition of Mitchell's New General Atlas published by S. Augustus Mitchell in Philadelphia, 1860. Although many later edition Mitchell Maps have a copyright of 1860, the floral border is undeniable: this border only appeared in the 1860 edition and on a few maps from the 1861 edition. After that the border was changed to a more standard floral design and by 1868 it changed again to a grapevine border. A very rare map with a copy of the original title page included for authenticity. The map also has a copyright date of 1860 in the bottom margin of the map. It is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. A nice map labeled as Canada East in Counties with an inset of Montreal. Overall, A Beautiful Map that will frame up nicely. They don't get much better!
Size: The map image measures approximately 10 1/2 by 13 inches on a 13 by 15 1/2" page with a wide margin all around for framing.
Condition: The map is in near Excellent condition for its age with overall very light tonal ageing and some darkening around the edges. Other than a couple of light nonobtrusive spots, the map is very clean with original vibrant handcoloring. It is a dark impression printed on quality heavy paper, blank on the reverse. Overall, a very nice example that will frame up well. See the pics of the actual map.

Shipping: $4.95 for Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation in the USA or First Class International to Canada. International buyers add $8 for International Airmail elsewhere in the World or $23 for Priority International, which includes Paypal insurance. Shipping to Italy: Due to ongoing problems with the Italian Post, an additional $10.80 for Registration plus the cost of shipping is now required for all shipments to Italy.
Save on Shipping: We only charge one shipping fee based on the largest map or print with multiple items shipped along with it for no extra costs. Purchase 5 or more maps or prints and receive Free Priority shipping in USA or First Class International or Reduced Priority International.
Insurance Rates: For the USA we recommended and offer optional low insurance of $1.70 for up $50, $2.15 up to $100 and $2.60 up to $200, etc... International registration is an additional $10.80 and may be required for items of high value. Insurance is encouraged: without it we will not be responsible once item is shipped. Most USA and International Priority shipments are now covered byPaypal, so check your Paypal terms for more information.
International Customs Fees: It is the responsibility of the buyer to pay all Customs Taxes, VAT or other fees that may be due upon arrival. Please consult your country's Customs Regulations for more details on your country. Delays by Customs: Although most items arrive at their destination very quickly, we have no control over how long it takes an item to move through Customs, which can be held for up to six weeks.
