It ia a steel plate engraved map with vibrant handcoloring from Mitchell's New General Atlas, dated 1863. The maps are copyrighted earlier along the bottom, which reads: "Entered according to Act of Congress in the year 1860 by S. Augustus Mitchell in the Clerks Office of the District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania." A copy of the title page of the Atlas is included with the map for authenticity.
Size: The map image measures approximately 11 by 14 inches on a 12 by 15 1/2" page with a wide margin all around for framing.
Condition: The map is in Very Good condition with very light overall tonal ageing and bright handcoloring as issued. The map image is very clean with only some very light handling smudges in the margin, as seen in the pics. It is printed on a pliable heavy page, not brittle, and will frame up nicely with an antique quality as desired. See the pics.
