Description: It is an original antique map approximately 135 years old with original hand coloring and a centerfold as issued with the plate marks embossed around the edges. It is from the 1874 edition of Stieler's Hand Atlas, designed and engraved by F.V. Stulpnagel and published in Gotha by Justus Perthes. The publisher and date are shown on the map in the bottom margin and the name of the atlas is in the upper right corner with Stulpnagel's name in the title block. The map is not mounted nor matted, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the first pic. The Stieler maps are some of the most detailed of the 19th century in the German tradition of cartography.
Size: The map image measures approximately 11 1/2 by 14 inches on a 14 1/2 by 18 1/2" page as seen in the pic with a wide margin all around for framing as seen in the main pic.
Condition: The map is in Very Good to Excellent condition with original handcolor, blank on the reverse, pinted on strong paper with a centerfold as issued. It is basically as seen in the pics.Other than a couple of very light minor brown areas, hardly worth mentioning, the map is very clean and would frame up nicely. The pics are of the actual map.
