Gyakufunsha kazoku - ‘Crazy Family’ is a breathtaking, funky satire on Japanese salary man culture.

The Kobayashi family finally get the chance to move out of their tiny, cramped Tokyo apartment in favor of the suburban house of their dreams. But all is not well; the house is infested by termites and the family starts cracking up. Grandfather Yasukuni starts getting World War II flashbacks, Wife Saeko, decides she’s fed-up with her society-imposed maternal role and takes to performing strip-teases for Grandpa’s lecherous buddies. Son Masaki becomes immersed in his schoolwork to the point of stabbing himself in the leg to stay awake and building weird electronic contraptions, and Daughter Erika’s budding sexuality turns into full blown nymphomania.

All the while Father Katsuya attempts to kill the bugs in his house in increasingly drastic ways. As his family’s collective behavior grows steadily unhinged, Katsuya decides to take drastic action; he boards up all the doors and windows and begs his family to poison themselves......
