TOYAMA NO KINSAN 1 (1957) - The Falcon Magistrate
TOYAMA NO KINSAN HAYABUSA BUGYO - This is the first film in the long running series based on famed swordsman and genuine hero of old Japan, TOYAMA KAGEMOTO (1793-1855), known by all just men for two things, his lightening sword and his cherry blossom tattoo.
Toyama Kinshiro, son of Edo's North City Magistrate, and Official Shogun Investigator, goes undercover as a commoner to unravel the mystery behind a series of murders within the city. What he discovers is an elaborate plot to kill the Shogun and take control of the country. With the help of a cat burglar they piece together the conspiracy, foil the assassination and bring the power hungry Daimyo to justice.
While not all stories are true, Magistrate Toyama did make a major impact on the policies of the Tokugawa Shogunate during the early part of the 19th Century.
