SWORD IN THE MOONLIGHT #1 (1957) - REMASTERED

Daibosatsu Toge - The adventures of Ryunosuke Tsukue, a nihilistic and murderous Samurai with an unorthodox style, who is - partly at least - an agent of fate, rather than entirely acting by his own will. When it comes to the choice between the sword and compassion, he always chooses the path of the blade.

Ryunosuke is first seen when he brutally kills an elderly Buddhist pilgrim for no reason and with no apparent feeling. Later, he deliberately kills an opponent in a fencing competition that was intended to be non-lethal.

Through all his interactions, whether brutally killing a man, or at home with his mistress and their baby son, Ryunosuke rarely shows any emotion. His expression is fixed in a glassy stare that suggests a quiet insanity. Was Ryunosuke evil to begin with? Or was he born without a conscience? Will Ryunosuke be able to escape his past or will he finally receive retribution for the havoc he has wrecked on humanity.

This film is the first of a trilogy, but goes further than any other versions. Learn what happened to Ryunosuke after the night of blood and flames!!!
Director Uchida worked in color for the first time on this three-part epic, based on Kaizan Nakazato's epic novel "The Daibosatsu Pass".
