DRIFTING AVENGER (1968) - REMASTERED
Koya no toseinin - A Japanese cowboy Western, with a Katana, clearly intended to give the biggest star of the decade, Takakura Ken, a chance to dress & act like a western gunslinger.
Ken, the son of a former Samurai settles with his family in the old west from Japan. Soon his family is killed in front of him by stagecoach robbers, seeking his revenge he heads out on the trail of vengeance aided long the way by an experienced gunslinger, who befriends Ken and becomes his mentor.
The story is actually more complex than most spaghetti Westerns, because it goes beyond the “revenge for a slaughtered family” story, to explore how taking revenge doesn’t really quell the anger of having your loved ones murdered.
