1943 The Little Prince English Third Printing First Edition Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Reynal and Hitchcock
Teal Green/Neptune
This book came from the library of Dr. Martha MacGuffie. It was originally from The City of NY Presbyterian Hospital Library.
The book is in Fair condition which should be expected from being from a hospital. The book has a lot of history and has most definitely made many children happy! There is coloring on the first few pages which can be seen in the photos. The back and front cover has a child's writing "The Little Prince". Part of the binding is falling of, but can be re-glued if you choose. There is children writing throughout the book, however it is mostly written sentences or drawings. There are approximately 10 (give or take a few) pages written on in pencil. It is not graffiti-like, but more like a child enjoying a book. There is no dust jacket for this book.
The book is the First Edition Third Printing that was translated by Katherine Woods and released in 1943, the same year that The Little Price was released in the U.S. The book won the "Book of The Century" in France and is a world bestseller today. This book represents a true piece of history considering the significance of the book itself and the history of this particular copy. It may not be in the best condition, but it has been loved!
This copy has the "Linotype Granjon" inscription on the back page. It does not have the crow on page 62 because it is an English version and has the rose on page 23.
