Lawless Range
When Middleton's friend Mason asks for help, he sends his son John. John arrives to find Mason missing and Burns' gang controlling the town. After bringing provisions to the besieged town, he plans a cattle drive. But Banker Carter gets the ranchers to start the drive early so Burns' gang can rustle them. The gang also makes John a prisoner to keep him out of the war.
The Man From Utah
The Marshal sends John Weston to a rodeo to see if he can find out who is killing the rodeo riders who are about to win the prize money. Barton has organized the rodeo and plans to leave with all the prize money put up by the townspeople. When it appears that Weston will beat Barton's rider, he has his men prepare the same fate for him that befell the other riders.
McLintock
Cattle baron George Washington McLintock is living the single life on his ranch. He is estranged from his wife Katherine who left him two years before, suspecting him of adultery. McLintock hires beautiful widow Louise Warren as his cook and welcomes both her and her two children into his home. Sparks begin to fly as an unexpected turn of events results in brawls, gunfire, an Indian attack...and the return of Mrs. McLintock, who wants custody over their daughter Becky (who returns from college only a few days after her mother's arrival) and a divorce!
Rainbow Valley
Rainbow Valley needs a new road and newcomer John Martin agrees to build it. Rogers is out to stop it and alters the town's petition to the Governor thereby obtaining the release of his boss Butch Galt. John and Butch were cell mates in prison. So Butch gets John to agree to wreck the road and furnishes him with dynamite. But dynamite is just what John needs to finish the work and he hopes to take care of Butch's gang at the same time.
Disc 2
Desert Command
Released in 1946, this feature is cobbled together from a 12 part 1933 Mascot serial, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, and purports to be based upon the classic work by Dumas, with the action transferred to the Sahara and involving a struggle of the French Foreign Legion opposite a secret group of Arab villains, with John Wayne's character mentioned in the script as D'Artagnan to a trio of guardsmen.
West of The Divide
"West of the Divide" (1934) was the fourth of the poverty row Westerns than John Wayne made for Lone Star. Wayne plays Ted Hayden, who returns home after a long absence to try and find out who killed his father. Pretending to be an outlaw named Gat Ganns, our hero joins the gang of Mr. Gentry (Lloyd Whitlock), who, of course, turns out to be the dirty scoundrel who gunned down Hayden's pa. Gentry now has his eye on the farm of pretty Fay Winters (Virginia Faire Brown), so there is more than vengeance at play here for Mason.
In addition to the young Wayne you have George Hays as Dusty Rhodes, who does not yet have the beard we all remember from his days as "Gabby" Hayes, is getting to his famous on screen persona just like the Duke. The action in this one consists mostly of fist fights and does not feature any really great stunts by the legendary Yakima Canutt, who plays Gentry's henchman Hank and who usually provides the best thrills in these oaters.
Written and directed by Robert N. Bradbury, who did most of Wayne's Lone Star films, "West of the Divide" is apparently a rip off of a 1932 western "The Reckless Rider." Apparently enough time had passed for people to forget they had seen this story before, but then most of these poverty row Westerns have recurring elements (e.g., Wayne undercover with a gang, the damsel in distress).
Hurricane Express
The Wrecker wrecks trains on the L & R Railroad. One of his victims is Larry Baker's father. Baker wants to find the evildoer, among a host of suspects, but it will be difficult since the Wrecker can disguise himself to look like almost anyone.
Riders of Destiny
Kincade controls the area's water supply and is about to force the ranchers into contracts at exorbitant rates. Government Agent Saunders has a plan that will open up the lost river and dry up Kincade's supply. So he gets the ranchers to insist on a clause that Kincade's land will revert to the public if he fails to deliver water.
Disc 3
Blue Steel
John Wayne is an undercover government agent who sets out to save a town from the "Polka Dot Bandit". The bandit is stealing all the supplies coming into the town in order to run the people off their land, which is sitting on top of the richest gold mine ever discovered.
Texas Terror
A lawman resigns after thinking he may have caused the death of his friend. He prevents a woman from being robbed on the road to the high country.
He becomes the foreman of her ranch, they fall in love, until she is told by the man who killed her father that Wayne was the culprit.
Wayne gets a whole band of Indians to help him catch the bad guy and his gang. Lots of action as Wayne rides and fights hard.
Randy Rides Alone
Jailed for murders he didnt commit, Randy escapes only to stumble into the den of the real murderers. Accussed of murder, Randy is released to the custody of Sally Rogers so he can find the real bad guys.
The Lawless Frontier
A renegade outlaw kills John Wayne's father and attempts to kidnap a girl, but John thwarts his plan. The inept sheriff claims John killed the grandfather (Gabby Hayes), but he's still alive. John chases the outlaw into the desert and eventually traps the whole gang in a mine. A good early John Wayne film.
