This is a natural piece of CLEAN sapphire from Fraser creek,Inverell,NSW renowned Australia wide for some of the best Australian Fine Blue sapphire. With the main(table) colour/s being a Fine vivid mid blue and the side table being a nice very light teal blue.Should cut a nice BRIGHT stone as the side table is light coloured! The surface of the stone has pits and cracks which will be removed in the usual preforming process.Excellent shape.Dark areas are shadows and are the same colour as the blue areas. The stone has a surface crack(see 3rd photo next to the dimple in the bottom center of the stone) which is about 2mm deep and 5mm long and should be removed in the preforming process.
When a piece of rough is described as clean it means it doesn't have internal cracks or inclusions that can be visible by the eye.To cut a gem quality stone it must not have cracks or major inclusions. If a stone does when cut it's price per carat is a fraction of an eyeclean or better cut stone's per carat value. Therefore to cut a gem out of a cracked or included stone means they have to be removed first. The average return from rough is about 25% to 33%.Chunky stones and/or wide c-axis stones give the best returns.
#Postage will be combined for multiple purchases.
The stone has not been heat treated.
Dimensions:13.50mx12.00xmmx11.90mm

#Note:Ceylon Blue or Cornflower blue(if your a gardener you'll know cornflowers have many different hues of Blue) are just terms used in the Jewellery industry to describe a certain Fine hue of Blue which is typical of Fine Blue sapphires from Sri Lanka or Burma. In other words a Thai or Australian,Vietnamese sapphire can be described as Ceylon blue etc.I personally believe such terms should not be used as they can be misleading. You can have light fine blues, vivd blues, rich fine blues they are all fine and should be even looking across the stone just different saturations.Pale blues and dark blues are different and are not fine blues. As well as patchy parti stones and banded stones.Unfortunately Australian Fine Blues are usually bought by Thais and are sold as Ceylon Blues and sometimes Burmese as they know they will get more for them and they look similar.
Thankyou.
