This piece is in MINT condition. I had it handed down to me over twenty years ago and it has been wrapped and in a box since. I would like to see it go to someone who can truly enjoy its beauty.

Description:
A Copeland parian bust after R Monti (1818-1881) dated 1871 modeled as a veiled mother cradling her baby in her arms. The veil is covering the baby's head and face, raised on a circular socle.
This piece is signed and dated and impressed 'Ceramic and Crystal Palace Art Union, copyright reserved, Copeland A83' 15.5” high
Footnote:
Rafaelle Monti was born in Italy and was the son of Gaetano Monti, a sculptor of note; he studied under his father and became successful early in life. He came to London in 1848 and exhibited at the Royal Academy and gained considerable praise for his figure 'Statue Voilee' which he executed for the Duke of Devonshire. No other sculptor succeeded as well as Monti in depicting the human form covered by a veil so exquisitely.
