1930 Wright-Ditson Sports Catalog on CD A wonderful, 60 page journey into vintage sports gear, apperal and equipment from almost 80 years ago. George Wright and Henry A. Ditson each owned sporting good companies in the 1870s. Wright & Ditson company was founded in 1871 and was purchased by Spalding in 1891, however the name was continued on golf clubs & balls until the 1940's. In the 1930s the company's name was "A.J. Reach, Wright & Ditson and owned by Spalding since its purchase. Al Spalding, A. J. Reach and George Wright all played for Boston's National League baseball team in 1877. These 3 athletes and business men were all key players in the early sporting goods and athletic apparel in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Spalding is a sporting goods company founded by Albert Spalding in Chicago in 1876. The company specialises in the production of balls for many sports, being perhaps most well known for it's basketballs, but it also makes a range of products for baseball, soccer, softball, volleyball, American football and golf.
