This is a vintage hamilton 14k gold wristwatch. This watch's serial number of M32310 dates it to between 1941 and 1951, however this movement carries the medallion that was not used I believe after 1941. After that year the medallion series watches had a gold M and this medallion is the companies initials. This medallion was used on Hamilton's finest watches of the time. The inside of the back case is marked Hamilton W Co 14k Lancaster PA 745385.
I had my jeweler look at this and he said it needs an adjustment, a cleaning and a mainspring. I opted not to have it serviced (the estimate was $125) and will leave it to the new owner. There appears to be one small area of rust in the corner-please see the close up picture of the screw. This piece is marked 19 jewels and a 982 movement and M32310. According to old catalogue records the dots and markers on the face are 18kt.
I am not a watch expert so please consider this as is and use the pictures for references. This was my fathers and was given to him sometime in the 60's and rarely if ever worn by him. "CFS" on back of case. Unfortunately i dont have any records on the piece but there are some dates scratched inside from when i assume it was serviced over the years.
Although this piece is gold I hope that someone who collects these fine pieces purchases it for restoration and not for scrap or parts. The back and front case alone scrap out near $300 with gold at $1800/ ounce not to mention any other gold components that may be present such as the face and dot markers which may be 18kt gold and any movement components.
The weights of the pieces are : The back case = 4.1 grams
The Front case= 5.2 grams
The movement = 10.1 grams
I dont know if hamilton used gold for the gears or if the rubies are simulated or genuine.
Insurance is included in the shipping cost.
