I have sold on and off for 3 years. I can't
believe how many people, don't respond,
don't pay unless you file with ebay, or
plain don't care anymore. Some of these buyers have great ratings, and sell too. So
what's up. I buy, and I'm still a very
prompt payer. My items cost under $40.00.

You are not alone! I've got the same problems with slow payers...I would think if they bid on something, that meant they REALLY wanted it, esp. 'Buy it Now'...even they are SLOW payers - does that make any sense??? And of course, there are always excuses ("out of the country", "got busy & forgot", "my mother, father, sister, brother - died or is in hospital", "I was in a bad accident" (very common excuse), ...well, eBay is my full time job, it's the way I pay my bills & the phone company, electric, bank, eBay, etc...won't take ANY excuses from me when my bills are due! Wow, don't get me started...haha..I guess it's just the way things are with "Internet Business", but it sure feels good to vent!!

I know what you mean.

Today I filed my FVF for a customer who has 180+ positive feedback rating, and no negs. I will now be negging them for non-payment. They never answered to ebay's NPB alert on 4/12. They have also bought things in the past week and paid for them. I don't get it!

Makes you wonder how these people pay their regular bills if they can't pay a $25 ebay bill.

Do you offer different payment options? I once forgot an auction mostly because the person only took money orders and I have a brain filled with everything needed to keep up with my 3 kids so I kept forgetting to purchase a money order.

FINALLY, after a reminder I forced myself to make a special trip into town (I am in the boonies) to buy and mail a money order.

Now I just bid on auctions that take Billpoint, Paypal or personal checks.

I accept several different payment options - most are online payment options. And they still take forever to pay.

Same thing happening here! The ones that really frost my nips are the ones that say...."oh gosh, this is the first notice I have received. It must be my isp." If I believed all of those that I get with this excuse, no one would be on line at all! There are people that say "well I am not at my computer 24/7." That to me in an invadid excuse. You know that you bid on something, so you should take the time to jot down the sellers name or the auction number and keep track of the auctions! I have filed 10 npb's in the last 2 months and the ones that don't follow through, get the neg. No more fooling around with me.

Why do so many of them say, I will pay you next week with paydirect or paypal or whatever?

If they are gonna use a credit card why don't they just DO IT?

I get slow buyers too. I sometimes think they bid on an auction on saturday, and wait till the next Friday when they get paid before they send payment.

Now, good buyers can be real quick if they want to be. Had an auction go off on a Sunday, and I got a Money Order on Tuesday... From Austria...If I could just get the people in New York (or Kansas, or Idaho, etc) to be half as quick.

I just got my first neg from someone who said "Zero Compassion with Family issues. Too quick to add Negative Marks!!"

I responded with:

pymt rec'd 38 days after close date (2/11) I left neg on 3/13.

She said her grandmother was suffering from Congestive heart failure. My mom, grandma, and two aunts had that, and unless they were unique, they treated the flare up, and send them home. Then, after a time the cycle would start again.

After her neg, she informed that Since I only took money orders, she couldn't get it paid, her bank was 25 miles away, yadda yadda. So, it was all my fault. I told her where I live, the post office, the grocery store and the convenience stores sell MO. She knew the terms going in.

Do you guys think I was too quick with the neg? Feb 11 until March 13? 30 days??

Cindy, you are ALOT more patient than some of us - I'm afraid I would have given a negative much sooner!! I'm leaving more & more negatives all the time. It used to 'hurt' me to do it..I was so afraid the person had a REAL excuse & once the feedback is left there's no going back. Even though I still feel bad about it - I will leave negative feedback. I don't know why people don't read a sellers TOS...I don't use PayPal anymore (and state that CLEARLY in each listing), but I do accept Billpoint, Money Orders & personal checks (with no holding I might add)...and I still get "Do you take PayPal?"..or "Well, since you don't take PayPal, I'll have to send a check"...Some act like they get mad at ME & they are the ones who placed the bid!! It sure makes me feel better to know I am not alone!

There's no excuse to pay late if the seller offers PayPal or Billpoint. Writing a check can take a little time and effort.
Some bidders just aren't organized--they haven't created a file that says "WON AUCTION/PAY WITHIN ONE WEEK" or something.
I've made the mistake of bidding on some auctions and then discovered they only take money orders. Since I don't have time to stand in line for a money order, I usually just send cash and cross my fingers.
I wouldn't take the late payers personally. These are probably the same folks who are late on paying their bills too. Filing a NPB usually wakes mine up.
But the bottom line I think is 1) Some people are just unorganized; and 2) some people are just BUSY--they have more than Ebay on their minds.
