Hi Aintrichyet,
I have been looking at my 'Question from ebay member' emails and the Re: that is at the start of yours is not there. Perhaps he is simply opening a previous email from you and hitting the reply button. They may have been a member previously or with another email address. Not sure if this helps but this is JMHO.
Cheers,
Adrian

I have gotten several emails lately to my "mailstep" vedio address from ebay members trying to buy items that have closed on Ebay without a bid. MY same question, how in the world did they get that email address? It is not my user name. I wonder if it is through paypal?

Ebayers can use seller's current auctions " ask seller a question " function to contact sellers about other auctions or closed auctions. Ebay must be very confusing to many ebay buyers because that seems to be a very common method of buyers asking if their auction win was mailed, did they receive payment yet, etc.

They are in Denmark - or at least their email address is and they are using one of the german language ebays. Are they asking you about a customer or seller that you also have dealt with?

They are definately nnot a native english speaker. Perhaps spanish is their native language. Looks like they used a translation program.

i don't know if that person is a customer of mine..I know I don't have any customers in Malaga!!!! I am afraid to answer and ask for more information for fear that it will give away my email address if it's some kind of hoax!

i don't know if that person is a customer of mine..

It's probably not a former buyer of yours but apparently there is a connection to you through an auction buyer or seller that you dealt with in the past ( maybe info was garnered from feedbacks? )

You can just choose to ignore the email as it would be too much hassle to communicate and anyway ebay gets paid to help these guys.

Neglus - my point was that this person having your email address is not a danger to you.

about earlier parts of this thread...I posted a similar question about a week ago..had am ebay member contact my email directly (not through question to seller) about an item that did not sell....someone pointed out that my email address was in my Vendio store if you looked for it..and sure enough..it is! Perhaps that's the hole in the boat?

Whenever I get a "Ask seller a Question"
email, I never ever reply via my eBay registered address. Instead, I copy the email of the sender and then switch right over to my free Yahoo junk email account. Since doing this, my busy main selling account (as registered on eBay) has gotten alot less spam. I've learned the hard way that some "bidders" just want to harvest sellers emails and then barrage their in-box with annoying, unsolicited spam. That does not happen anymore since I've opted to reply using the Yahoo junk account.

I guess spammers just don't like me. I answer all of my Ask a Question mails from my registered address and yet all three associated accounts remain spam free.
