I don't know if this is a new scam or not but I had not heard of it before.

I have 2 people that contacted me wanting to know why the winning bidder did not buy the item because they were sent second chance offers to buy it. The winning buyer did buy it and I did not send any second chance offers.

The $2,030.00 antique plane was purchased by a long time ebayer that all plane buyers and sellers know or no one would have questioned the offer. Both of these guys would have clicked on it and bought it if not for knowing the winner.

There is an UK dealer who has a line on item description which said 'they will never send out second chance offer' and his auctions always get multiple bids.
So scammers must be targeting certain sellers.

Yep, you can bet that if you have a high $$$ boy toy, the scammers will pick it up and run with it.

Our bidders on the last 3 items we have sold though eBay motors have been receiving tons of Second chance spams.

why not just make the auction private? I dont know why Ebay allows other people to contact bidders in the first place.

Which all tells me that the "buyer 1" etc. "enhancement" is not working. Just curious how a scammer would have known to harvest user IDs before the piece went into that mode. Sounds like a lot of work to me!
