Except me, of course.

It's eBay AdCommerce. Okay, I can hear you now: "Why should I pay extra to advertise on eBay?"

You should pay extra because if you do it right, it can dramatically increase your sales. And it's not very much extra: The minimum bid is 1 cent.

AdCommerce is a pay-per-click (PPC) program similar to many others like Google AdWords. You sign up, generate a list of keywords relevant to your product line, set your minimum bid and watch what happens.

There is no conversion tracking, which means you don't know for sure if clicks are translating into sales or if you're just getting more sales than usual. But if you keep an eye on your AdCommerce campaign you can pretty much tell with 90% certainty when a click resulted in a sale. Considering the low cost, that's good enough for me.

Oh, yeah:

Where Can I send my Clicks?
Currently AdCommerce only allows clicks within eBay sites. When you are creating your ad, you will have the option to choose from a pre-configured destination URL which will direct customers to your store or listings. You also have the option of choosing to create a custom destination URL. Remember, your custom URL must direct customers to an eBay landing page.

Well, um, yeah.

One supposes you are actually *selling* on eBay.

My AdCommerce campaign is 19 days old and because I watch it closely, I know that at least 16 sales happened because someone clicked on my ad. Cost to date? $4.52.

Not per day. Total cost.

I know of other low-cost advertising options (*much* cheaper than AdWords) for off-eBay sales, but I'll leave that for another time.

Thanks Fluffy - I may check this out next week (playing catch up now due to short vacation) on one of my accounts.

Thanks for the link. I'm seriously considering it on some of the international eBay sites as well.

Although I use this to land on a search of my store, sellers of high-end items can use this to land on a single listing. You can provide a pic and title - it will appear on the first and subsequent search results pages at a fraction of what "Featured" items cost to list. In my category, keywords "postcard"and "post card" had no AdCommerce ads on the UK site, so mine is the only ad that shows on every page of a "postcard" search, all for a penny per click. I'm enjoying it while I can, I don't expect it to last for long...

That's a good point. You can specify any landing page as long as it's on eBay.

I haven't attempted to target specific items because I have thousands of keywords. But you could.

For postcard sellers, wouldn't it be cool if you could generate huge lists of place names and have your ad come up whenever those names were searched on? That way you could sell to people who aren't specifically looking for postcards but rather for Nome, AK or Tehachapi, CA stuff.
