I found a battery operated Pan Am plane at a sale Saturday. It's tin and battery operated.
The man I got it from wasn't planning to sell it - but he did. He had all kinds of old tin toy - train and cars. He said they were all his when he was a boy and he was now in his 80's. This was the only plane he had so I'm not sure if he was including that as well.
I believe the plane is from the 40's but I don't know for sure. If I post a photo, could anyone help me.
It is marked Made in Japan but no maker's mark that we have found so far.

Do a search on ebay for "Vintage Pan Am Battery Operated Toy Airplanes" there are several perhaps one will look like the one you bought.

I did do a search and didn't see anything just like it. I googled 1940's Pan AM passenger planes and one image did look a lot like mine.
That's a good idea Merrie. I may just do that. We used to have all kinds of experts on this board - where did they all go???
What is 😉?

Have you tested it to see if it works? If not that reduces what ever value it might have a lot. I typed (vintage tin toy Japanese pan am planes) into yahoo and got a bunch of photos maybe one looks like yours.
