[b]the words here will be in bold if you remove the asterisk inside the bracket and then make sure that there are no spaces inside the bracket.[/b*]

Only the letter b is inside the brackets.

[b ] at the beginning and [/b] to close it at the end.

with the above example, at the beginning would be in bold if I had not left the space.
