I for one an amazed by the outpouring of outrage from the world's Muslims over a few politcal cartoons.

Where was the outrage when their own people:

Behead prisoners
Record videos of prisoners begging for their lives
Car-bomb innocents
Use children to blow up soldiers

People say "well not all Muslims are like that," and that may be true, But it seems "everyday Muslims" are condeming these cartoons, but had nothing to say about acts of terror.

No, it's pure hypocrisy. It's OK to kill westerners, but it's a high crime to print a cartoon of Muhammed.

But if you're gonna pick on Muhammad, at least make it funny.

Doc, I've been trying to point that out for the last several years. To no avail, I may add.

It’s not that all Muslims are like that it’s that they condone it and won’t do anything about it.

You know, I think the Liberals and Muslims have one thing in common. They lack HUMOR.

I’ve seen the coming of a “holy war” for the last 10 years. Everyday my annoying prophetic of doom seems to come closer.

I see you check CT’s link to the Danish photo”shop” site?

I foresee a problem for the Norsemen.

Thanks for the Pic idea.

I'm always getting asked about that stuff.

Doc - as with the bible, if you look hard enough and occasionally ignore content, you can find an individual quote to support whatever view you wish to support. While you might not want to add this one to your permanent bookmarks, you might want to at least read this article.

If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant, And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; ... Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.
-- Deuteronomy, Chapter 17:2-3,5

Violence towards believers of other faiths is a distinctly Judaeo-Christian-Muslim tradition. It's in all their handbooks. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling himself.

Ok stone them all, but wait what about that little verse that goes "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." John 8:7
Just had to throw that out there.

I am Christian and I have a hard time believing that any faith could would and does teach hate and killing but apparently the Muslims or a lot of them do. It is mind boggling. To me a terrorist / holy war fanatic is just another name for murderer or serial killer, and the people are so brain washed and bullied that they go along.
OK don't beat me up I can't say what I really would like to call them or the whole thing would be censored.

Seems the EUROPEANS understand the concept of FREEDOM OF THE PRESS a lot better than the DUMBO-ADMINSTRATION...NO surprise, considering the GOP's usual LOW-REGARD for the US CONSTITUTION:

In an interview with La Repubblica daily, European Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini said the European Union could not apologize for the offence caused.

“No, it’s not Europe’s duty, nor do I think it is the duty of (Danish) Prime Minister Rasmussen. We don’t have the power to apologize in the name of the press. That would be violating the basis of freedom of the press. If they feel it is right, it is up to the editors and the authors of the cartoons to apologize to those who feel offended," Frattini said.

OTOH
The running lackey dog from the DUMBO adminstration says:

“These cartoons are indeed offensive to the belief of Muslims,” State Department spokesman Kurtis Cooper said. “We all fully recognize and respect freedom of the press and expression, but it must be coupled with press responsibility. Inciting religious or ethnic hatreds in this manner is not acceptable.”

TRANSLATION:

"FREEDOM OF THE PRESS is all fine & dandy, just as long as you agree with us and don't disturb anybody...We prefer nice stories about POOH & GOPiglet!"

Tom, you're absolutely right. That was just plain stupid.

How much do you want to bet three-dozen American newspapers will air the cartoons tomorrow? What's he going to say then? There is absolutely NOTHING in those cartoons that would catch the attention of ANY American censors, so I don't see how the government could keep anyone from printing them.

I don't see how they could fall under "hate speech" either.

Kurtis Cooper should look for a new job right now. He's not gonna be able to keep this one much longer.

And they're correct AS WE CAN EASILY see....this HAS caused death threats to come....burning buildings....wanting to take hostages.

These muslims are nut cases.....now....

Sure there are. Within certain limits, that is a good thing. But how does a cartoon showing a man with a beard walking his camel fall under the definition of "Hate Speech"?

The cartoons themselves are extremely mild compared to some of the stuff about our own government I've seen in my local newspapers political cartoon section.

It's not the cartoons themselves that are offensive. It's the mindset of those reading the cartoons deciding to see what they want to see.

When it comes to the CONSTITUTION, especially the BILL OF RIGHTS, I'm a strict constructionist...

I tolerate very FEW limitations on the PRESS or PROTECTED SPEECH or the RIGHT OF FREE ASSEMBLY or FREEDOM OF (which to me also includes FREEDOM FROM) RELIGION, etc...

This is what is so disturbing about DUMBO'S assualt on basic FREEDOMS & PROTECTIONS which are the BIRTH-RIGHTS of ALL Americans...

YES, following the restrictions imposed by the RULE OF CONSTITUTIONAL LAW may be messy and time-consuming...BUT:

If you pee on the CONSTITUTION in response to terrorists, then aren't you saying that the terrorists have WON...that THEY have beaten our sacred institutions???*

*(obviously, in cases of immediate clear & present attacks, action has to be taken...BUT: that ain't what we're talking about, Dungeon Dick, so don't put YER WORDS in MY MOUTH, ya slimer)...

Tom - but doesn't freedom of speech also mean that you can say that you think the bounds of good taste have been crossed?

Doc - no - it's the cartoons that are offensive. They could have shown Muhammad sitting in a field of daisies feeding bunny rabbits and they still would have been offensive to Muslims. The depiction of Muhammed in any form, even positive, is forbidden.

I know that fenix. I am well aware of the Muslim rules about idolatry and imagery. My point was that an American censor would not complain about them, since there isn't anything about the cartoons that a non-Muslim would find offensive.

That's the whole root of the problem... The Dutch paper knew how offensive they would be and published them anyway just to tick off the Muslims. This may have been blown out of proportion, but it wasn't an innocent accident either. That's why one of the cartoons shows a white guy in a turban that says "PR Stunt".

Which is why I wonder why no American papers have reproduced the cartoons. Maybe the government IS censoring things from behind the scense. But of that were the case, SOMEONE would have spilled the beans.

From what I have read, most papers found them to be in bad taste. Besides - news organizations in this country are all about the dollar and in the long run, it's not fiscally responsible to go out of your way to piss off readers.

Just to be clear Doctor....

But how does a cartoon showing a man with a beard walking his camel fall under the definition of "Hate Speech"?

I don't think it does nor should they be censored. Sorry if my post wasn't clear on that.

------------

But I really do find it VERY odd that the left leaning MSM aren't printing them BECAUSE they're offensive of a religion that imo, THEY support...but wouldn't/didn't hold back one bit about reprinting the same pictures of our 'torture' of the Muslims held in the jails. EVEN KNOWING that would inflame the muslims our soldiers are there fighting. tsk tsk tsk shame on their double standard.

hmmmm looks to me like they don't mind trashing/offending our military/this President/our country by showing the pictures they did. But let's don't offend the muslims who want to destroy us.

Oh no....

It DOES show the MSM's bias to me.

Linda - get off it. What the hell does breaking the basic tenant of a religion in a form that serves absolutely no news purpose whatsoever have to do with printing an actual news story?

If you TRULY cannot see the difference between deciding not to print a pointless and blatantly inflamatory cartoon and printing an actual news story then you really have gone around the bend.

It's funny - I watched The American President today and there was a quote from Annette Benning that made me think of you. How do you have patience for people who claim they love America, but clearly can't stand Americans? I have never encountered someone that screams their patriotism from the rooftops the way that you do and then turns around and complains and complains the way you do.
