Ok, who do you think is going to win?

I think we, or rather the Seahawks are going to We're the underdogs in this game after all!

But I think we're gonna have a problem... the damn weather service is calling for high winds, in fact it is REALLY windy right now, and we may lose power!! (they say possibe up to 70 mph)

I am hoping that we will buy a generator! (we've always said we were going to anyway)

Anyone else?

Ron, are you guys getting these high winds??

Beside losing power, we have 2 huge evergreens on the property, really, really close to the house.

Go Hawks!!

Ever since the Steelers beat the crap out of the Houston Oilers for all those years, I've always hoped anyone else would beat them.

Weather will play a factor for both sides. Too dam cold to be doing anything outside but hunting...for a warm dry spot.

Yeah would be nice to have the 'underdog' win

Oh, I know, watching the news, Detroit is expecting snow. Well the Seahawks are used to rain, hopefully the snow won't slow 'em down!

Now to decide whether to buy the generator or a battery operated TV.... I am pretty sure the powers gonna go, today at least, lights been flickering since I got up! Moved both cars out of the way of trees, now I hope we'll be safe!! damn!

Go Seahawks!

(I need the hawks symbol here for a sig line!

Shelly, not just snow. Temps expected to be highs of 20's. I have a younger brother living in Kalamazoo who is wishing he was back home in Texas right now.

If you don't have the power going off all the time for long periods of time, just get a battery operated tv.

Or leave home & find a local sports stop that is airing the game. Get there early.

Terry Bradshaw in Heaven

Terry Bradshaw, after living a full life, died.

When he got to heaven, God was showing him around.

They came to a modest little house with a faded Steelers flag in the window. "This house is yours for eternity, Terry," said God. “This is very special; not everyone gets a house up here."

Bradshaw felt special, indeed, and walked up to his house. On his way to the porch, he noticed another house, just around the corner.

It was a 3-story mansion with a blue and white sidewalk, a 50-foot tall flagpole with an enormous SEAHAWKS flag, and in every window a blue Towel.

Bradshaw looked at God and said, "God, I'm not trying to be ungrateful, but I have a question. I was an all-pro quarterback, I hold many NFL records, and I even went to the Hall of Fame."

God said, "So what's your point, Bradshaw?"

Well, why does Matt Hasselbeck get a better house than I do?"

God chuckled, and said, "Terry, that's not Matt's house, it's mine."

:: Oh, I know, watching the news, Detroit is expecting snow. Well the Seahawks are used to rain, hopefully the snow won't slow 'em down!::

That won't be an issue - the Ford Field is a domed stadium. The Superbowl is never held in an open stadium where where weather like snow can be an issue. It was "rule" implemented to make sure that the game is a contest between two teams competing against each other at their best rather than the weather. Why do you think there has never been a Superbowl in Denver, Green Bay, or Seattle?

Would do I want to win? Steelers. I admit it, I am strangely sentimental when it comes to football and I want to see Jerome Bettis go out with that ring on his finger.

Who do I think will win? Steelers. They are playing like a team on a mission. They have been playing like that for for weeks now and I just have not seen Seattle play at that level. They skated thru a horrible division and have played lackluster teams even in the playoffs. I don't see that they have been tested yet.

LOL bear that was cute

Fenix! ok root for the damn Steelers then!

I don't know about the other teams areas you mentioned, but the Seahawks just recently got Qwest Field (open) but had always played at the King Dome (totally closed dome) until they demolished it (right AFTER putting a new roof, dome whatever on it) The Mariners played in the King Dome also, until they got their open ball park (but it has the retractable roof) Safeco Field. Qwest Field and Safeco Field are right next door to each other, and its hell in traffic when games (and other things, like exhibitions) are going on.

Yeah, I think the battery TV is the way. Though the winds are totally died down now, and super calm.

God, I couldn't imgaine going to the sports bars here! Or the casinos, they always have betting there, so its usually standing room only for a big event.

Well - now that they have an open stadium and the superbowl is during rainy seaon they'll never get one. they may not have gotten one before because of the old stadium. The NFL has a massive criteria for Superbowl stadiums. for instance, despite the fact that San Diego is the players favorite location for the game (locations are close together and the city is easy to get around - least favorite is New Orleans) and the climate is great, San Diego has been told they will not get another Superbowl until they build a new stadium. The last one there was a mess as far as the NFL was concerned as additional promised seats were not created and technical upgrades not made - if I remember correctly, they had to pay the NFL over a million dollar to compensate for additions not completed.

When Denver decided it was time to replace High High Stadium there was a big battle between the city that wanted a dome to attract the SB and the fans (and ski industry) that wanted an open stadium because cold and snow is a tradition of Bronco football. Fans won out - Invesco at Mile High Stadium (because the fans were also not going to put up with losing the Mile High tradition) is open.

I don't know that much about the Superbowl and rules, all I know is that the Hawks better win (besides I got my 'outlawed' 12 man shirt to wear!!!! )

Funny, NTS, I did not know that about the King Dome. ::shrug:: Just barely know enuf about the division over here. I think classic is right it's the yankees and the mets subway/bus transit series in Motown. I hope the half-time show is good. I will have to check planetary influences to see whats going on. I feel Pittsburg is strong tho. But I better check my numbers on their web sites so I know what I'm oracle'ing here.... dont want to screw it up like fenix always does...

Dbl - yeah A&M is texas. i just Googled this whole thing and it's got to be one of the dumbest things I have ever heard of. This thing is actually going to federal court.

Texas A&M unhappy Seattle fans called '12th man'

FORT WORTH -- The Seattle Seahawks are facing the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl, but they have an off-the-field battle brewing with Texas A&M.

School officials are upset with the Seahawks' use of the "12th Man" theme to recognize their fan support. A&M has legal claims to the "12th Man" moniker, a school tradition that dates to the 1920s.
Kyle Field
Texas A&M contends the 12th man lives at Kyle Field, not in Seattle.

The Seahawks have celebrated their fans as a "12th Man" since the 1980s, when they used to turn the now-demolished Kingdome into one of the NFL's loudest venues.

The team retired the No. 12 in 1984. Now, a No. 12 flag waves atop the city's signature Space Needle and the team has raised a "12th Man" banner at their new stadium, Qwest Field.

A&M's "12th Man" tradition started in 1922, when a student, E. King Gill, was called from the stands to suit up for the injury-depleted Aggies as they faced top-ranked Centre College. Gill never got in the game, but the Aggies won 22-14.

The tradition has evolved into a campus-wide commitment to support the football team. Students stand for entire games at Kyle Field and at times, they join arms and sway in unison, causing the stadium to literally shake.

A&M has twice registered trademarks for "The 12th Man" label -- in 1990 and 1996 -- that include entertainment services, "namely organizing and conducting intercollegiate sporting events," and products, such as caps, T-shirts, novelty buttons and jewelry.

Athletics director Bill Byrne said this week he's received e-mails from A&M supporters complaining about the Seahawks' "brazen use of the 12th Man theme at their home playoff games."

Byrne said A&M has contacted the Seahawks about the issue. He said he wrote the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills in the past about halting their 12th man themes once the university made them aware of the trademark registrations.

Byrne said Seattle, though, "has been slow-rolling us."

Lance Lopes, the Seahawks' vice president of corporate partnerships/legal affairs, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram he would not comment on whether the team would meet A&M's request.

"I will say this," Lopes told the newspaper. "Our fans have been the folks that have run with the 12th man. It has not been the organization itself. We raise a flag with a 12 on it, it doesn't say 12th man or anything like that. We retired the jersey No. 12 many, many years ago and we've always sort of kept it under that context.

"But, in terms of this whole 12th man derivative, if you will, that's occurred in the mass media and the public here locally. It has not been generated by the organization, per se."

But Steve Moore, A&M's chief marketing officer, said the school has seen Seahawks-themed "12th Man" merchandise and has no way to know whether the franchise itself is producing it.

The team's pro shop is sold out of No. 12 replica game jerseys and No. 12 flags and a fan Web site -- SeaHawkers.org -- offers downloadable computer desktop wallpaper that reads: "At Home We are the 12th Man" and "On the Road We are the 12th Man."

"In the normal course of action, once someone becomes aware of it and they understand that you have a registered trademark, normally they cease," said Steve Moore, A&M's chief marketing officer. "In this case, they have chosen not to, but we are still hopeful that they will, quite frankly."

The university's last resort is to take the Seahawks to court, but Moore said A&M is not prepared to do that yet.

"What we hope is that the normal course of action will work, and that they'll choose to recognize our ownership of the trademark," he said.

Dbl - I just don't get it. It's not as if the Seattle usage of 12th Man is causing financial damage to A&M and both are used to celebrate the devoltion of their fans. I think this is just tremendously bad poor sportsmanship on the part of the Aggies.

I dont know fenix, that copyright stuff gets awfully sticky because it associates the product of the teams or whatever the case may be that they license off their names with and Ad revenue and all that. I read an interesting article a while back and I had to chuckle because it was about the whole MS antitrust thing, and the writer (dominick dunn?) said what it all came down to was everyone was just annoyed Gates was smart enough to keep the license.

fenix, yeah they had their day in court. I guess they suspended action until after the game.

I heard that Paul Allen (owner of the Seahawks) offered A&M $$$ a couple years ago, to I guess appease them, but they refused.

I don't know what will happen to the 12th Man in Seattle. They put all the no. 12 flags back up, after the court hearing. There's a big one on the space needle. Everyone has them on their cars, and I got the t shirts. Darn I maybe could make a few bucks on eBay with them well, maybe after the game..........

Did you guys hear of the gal who put the hot dog up on eBay from the Championship game 2 weeks ago? yeah, it did go up to 10000, but people retracted, and I think it went for 1200? I just heard this, didn't look it up.

I mean COME ON!! seriously! if maybe Hassleback signed the hot dog or something...
LOL!

Maggie, tommorow is the game, if its 3:30 out here Pacific time, not sure what time zone your in... but be there!!

Yes Linda, the Seahawks need all the support!!

Dbl.. I wouldn't go with Qwest, its about the only phone co here, and they are awful (high priced! )

Yep nts I know all about Quest. You wouldnt know it but I did support for MSN at one time and they were a big part of the ah. family.

I dont know what the seahawks look like near. I was totally distracted by my neighbor that day whose husband is navy and was out at sea and knows nothing about computers, who could not even figure out what disk to put in to restart her computer. So I didnt get a good look at them at all. My heart was with Carolina anyway tho (southern girl I am now)... Just like it will be for Pittsburgh tomorrow. I was such a huge fan of Penn State when I went there, I wanted to go to that school. And besides, I cant help it, I am stuck with Pittsburgh. They creeped up on me back in the summer when classic and I were just messing with some comedy sh* over here. Plus my ice cream date with Bettis and all that...

Word to the wise: What you dont know, can really hurt you.
