Hi
Here is a new interesting twist to the banner problem, I think.
Now All Photos and top of Store template is missing... However, the banner is there!

Check out this auction that just closed.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2884099825&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAS:US:3

I really don't look at my auctions unless I need to identify what sold.

Please let me know what you think is going on here. Is it a continuing problem with the store templates or what.

Another Vendio member said he didn't have a store, so maybe it is connected to a bug somewhere... sorry, it's obviously a bug.

Thank you
Paula NY-baglady

Hello,

I've checked your listing, and I've noticed that you actually used the Blank Template for it. This is why there is no formatting for the description text and all photos are on bottom.

Thanks,

-Radu

Hi Radu
I don't mean to be critical but I really wish you would check things out throughly before responding with the "easy" answer.

NO, I do not use a blank template. I don't care what that auction looks like or shows. If you were to check my site specifics for eBay in My Account, you will see that the default is a store front template.

This item was listed in the past month. I use smp and then do the pain-in-the-neck work around so items are in my store and my inventory.

I DO NOT have the time to change more than the minimum. I DID NOT choose a blank template for that auction. It just happened.

I take the time to report intermittent problems that I experience because I recommend Vendio to at least 25 people ever few months. I need it to be functioning properly for myself and the people who join on my word.

I am aware that "your" goals are the same, however, please don't minimize these intermittent problems. They are the type that are a pain to correct but a bigger pain to deal with.

Paula

Hello,

I've checked the listing and can see the top of your store template as well as your images. Since these banner problems are happening sporadically, next time you see it, please take a screenshot and send it to us. You might want to review the javascript you use in your listings to make sure it is correct with all tags, so that we can eliminate that from possible causes of this problem.

Regards,

Sonya

Here's a screenshot of her auction with the banner problem I saw looking at it:

Hi

Here is another one

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2885718709&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOAS:US:3

I know I sound like an idiot but how the heck do I do a screen shot in xp? There doesn't appear to be a clipboard and the print screen on the keyboard doesn't seem to work...

Thank you
Paula

Hi Paula. I have followed your threads with great interest at the incredible numbers of different kinds of flukes in banner and checkout placement you are getting. I guess I just like trying to solve puzzles.

When I had my Vendio store I used the store template with the Vendio checkout and never got what you are seeing so commonly--with either a vendio-designated layout or an embedded template or a blank template. There is only one consistent difference in your listing setup that I notice.

I notice your store template and all the associated html is getting loaded in completely below the blue ebay "Description" bounding box. As I recall, the checkout banner function/position is tied to a Vendio built-in html slot at the top of the store template (pretty much that way in all of their templates), and the whole thing was designed to be rolled in as a block html package inside, not outside, the ebay "Description" field.
If that is the problem, there may be a glitch in how the checkout banner "knows" to relate in space and location to the rest of your listing and template --and it is just loading in wherever it can because it is getting mixed html signals from ebay's and vendio's html instructions. Same for the store banner which has been set up in a particular tabular relation below the checkout banner by Vendio's designers, but ebay perhaps expects all that to be part of their global description field.

I'ts nice to have the concise summary of the item in a little description box as the first thing people see, and unfortunately none of the Vendio layout choices provide for text inside the templates above the images. But you may need to sacrifice that convenience or put it in your own html somewhere else (like a bounding box looking like ebay's right below your pic with one of the vendio custom text setups) to get it all in the ebay Description box so the banners and checkout sections can get back to where they belong relative to each other.

Anyway--even if that is not the problem no one seems to be offering you much else so far, and it may be worth some thought.

Hi passedtothepresent

Thank you for the information! I agree, not much is being offered except to tell me it must be my fault...

I have been using this template for 2 years and never had a problem before! I also don't change my preferences very often because I am happy with what I have.

Thank you again for commenting! I often wonder if I am the only one out there that is having this problem!

Hi Paula,

On first glance of the example you provided, the banner covers the template. If you refresh it, it goes back to the top before the template starts. To take a screen shot, click on Control - Print Screen. Then you can open it in a graphics program, save it as a jpeg, and upload it to your Vendio account. Then let us know it's there so we can take a look.

Sonya

Hi all,

Please note that the banner problem seems to be most prevalent if you are scrolling down as the banner loads. If you scroll down the page while the banner loads, it may cover part of the description (it appears that this is the last element of the page to load.) If you simply let the page load completely before scrolling, the banner should appear properly at the top of the listing.

Thanks,

Diana

Hi Sonya and Diana

I really hate sounding like a malcontent BUT I strive and pay for a professional image.

The checkout bar should be where it should be. Period. My winners are not going to refresh the screen and they shouldn't have to.

The code writers need to move the location of the bar. I'm quite sure it can be done.

I want my clients to see the bar where it should be when they go back to the auction; not just "some place" in the auction.

This really does need to be fixed.

Thank you

ps. has anyone read the posting by passedtothepresent? She/He sounds a lot more versed in html, etc. than I am and what she says makes sense.

Might this be the problem and has it been sent to the programers?

Well, it seems now that I was only half right. It is true the entire Vendio package rolls into the ebay Description bounding area (obviously), but the blue borders on the description box in the nybaglady listings is apparently an ebay controlled table insertion to handle Item Specifics. (sorry--my items don't use item specifics so I didn't recognize that).

Then the Vendio html rolls in at approximately the same or the identical nested level as that ebay box, first an outer table with Vendio info then the checkout stuff or checkout holding place, then another nested table with the banner for the store template, then the layout, then the content.

All we as users can do is be sure we specifically select a layout choice with every template choice (the store template does not come with a pre-set layout), and reset the layout every time we want to change it. Still, the store banner should be there and appear normal regardless of the layout choice--it is not possible to run the store template without one. But if there is back end coding confusion in the outermost 1-3 layers of the vendio roll-in for table nesting, and the content table accidentally rolled in too early in the sequence, it could indeed behave as a blank template, bypassing both the template and the layout settings.

'Nuff said, and probably too much already. Thanks for the forum to input. Please let us know what the glitch was when engineering identifies it. It will help some of us structure our own html better. Thanks.

You know, maybe my "template" is the problem?

You know way more than I about code BUT I am understanding everything you say. Will you send me your email address at [email protected] and maybe, please, I could send the code to you and you might notice something?
thank you!

Hello,

This has been logged for engineering to look at and we will get to it as quickly as possible. I do not have an update or status, but we are aware of the issue. We will let you know if we are able to fix it. Thank you for your patience.

Best regards,

Hello
Just to let you know that the misplaced banner is still out there doing it's thing and this auction is missing my store front template.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=2889679265
Please do not tell me "I choose the blank template." I did not. I have never chosen a blank statement. I have used my store template as default and my one and only template since I purchased the code. Over a year ago... there is a bug and I am just letting you know again.
Thank you
Paula

Hi. Assuming you selected a layout, and your auction layout was correct when the auction was active and running, there are already some known system glitches of things like double checkouts and double data appearing at the bottom in SmPro previews but not in the online previews or listings. (I get erroneous double checkout entries at the bottom of most of my smpro previews depending on which layout I use). Those are already known by engineering to occur with only certain layouts but not other layouts, and there is no plan to change that til the next software sm pro upgrade because in that case the auctions launch just fine and it doesn't cause any other problems.

You might try some new image layout selections for your store template and see if it makes any difference when those auctions close. It may be a not yet identified layout-template-launch software unique combination that triggers the glitch. Just a thought.
