I have always thought, that if a designer or company would create clothes for the three basic body shapes and market and label they could easily make millions.

Apple Shape -- Weight on top and tummy with nice hips and legs.

Pear Shape -- Small on top and heavy on hips

All Over -- Weight distributed pretty evenly all over body.

You really need different styles and designs for each type.

I would love to be able to walk into a shop that had clothes that were DESIGNED with a pear shape in mind. It is so hard to find anything that looks good on a large pear shape. I had one dress that I wore out that i loved. It was one piece but the top part was loose almost like a short jacket, very flattering, but I have never found another.

silkmoth-size 10, 120 pounds? LOL I haven't been that size since I was 10! And then it probably was an A cup not a B.

Feeling totally at home here! As far as the earlier post about Lane Bryant, yes, the trendy stuff is BAAAAD and not flattering at all (and it ends up on the sale racks ASAP). But if you look past that, I LOVE their clothes, the more traditional ones that is. I am 29 and a size 16, and before LB I felt lost - XL is too small, 1X at some stores too baggy (I hear you on the arm holes).

But the ~best part~ about LB, where I make a beeline for, is the lingerie. I am a big busted girl, and it is the ONLY place I can find comfortable and sexy bras that fit. (I think the evil manufacturers think that all big girls like white cotton bras only!) And their sleepwear is fabulous. My husband has never been so happy since I discovered it!!!

Sadie999 is right about the thongs - they must be the right size, and you really do get used to the feeling! Even better, LB g-strings - honestly like wearing nothing at all!

I'm so glad that there are other plus size small chested women. I thought I was the only one! LOL It's very hard for me to find a shirt that fits that the neck line doesn't hang down too far. Clothes designers please make the neck holes smaller.

moonmem, I hear ya! If I wear a shirt that's even remotely not a crew neck, I have to hold my top when I bend over. Unless of course it's in front of my husband!

Yes, their lingerie is great. But, I miss their Solange line. That stuff was sexy and flattering to a larger woman. I was so impressed when I actually tried some on. I had given up years ago and hubby talked me into it. It looked so good my hubby bought me a bunch one year. Of course now I've outgrown it. But, I will be putting them all up for auction real soon. *hint, hint*

I've found a relatively new site http://www.plussize.com I haven't fully checked it out, but it has the looks of a winner (choice wise)

I'm that granny you see always wearing overalls. That's because they happen to hide my "problem areas". I like them for other reasons too, like all those pockets.

When I want a dress I usually sew it myself. I have modified and adjusted a couple of patterns so they work for me and I use them over and over. I can buy $10.00 worth of all cotten fabric from the sale table at WalMart and unfurl the sewing machine and have that dress in a few days, even at the pokey pace I sew. I don't do anything fancy, not even zippers or buttonholes. But I can always get a new dress or top in whatever color I want, plain or print, long or short.

I learned how to sew in middle school. I think it is a shame that sewing is not taught in the middle schools like it was when I was in 7th grade. In our school district budget cuts did in home ec classes years ago. (They just got around to cutting auto shop and all of a sudden the community was alarmed and benefits were organized and donations made and auto shop is reinstated.)

Oh my! For those of your looking for undergarments, looks at http://biggerbras.com

You can look things up by size, and they are then grouped by type.
