Okay, let me be a bit more pointed - What a load of trash.
"None that I saw assigned IQ points (is that really possible without the person in front of you taking tests."
No, it's not possible. In order to compare person A and person B using measure "X" (or, in this case, measure "IQ" ), you have to test these people using the same bases (standardized questions), using the same "X" ("IQ" ) measure. You could not possibly assign what we think of as an "IQ" score on such varied bases as those this thing relies on. You would have a more valid result were you to compare skull sizes and bumps on the head - at least each person has a head and bumps that are validly comparable, and they can all be quantified using the same measure, whether that measure be inches, centimeters, whatever.
That's the basic problem with this so-called study, the rest of the preposterous details are just delicious icing on the cake.
That said, I do feel obligated to add that world-renowned smartologist Dr. D. Onny, world-respected aromatherpaist Prof. Don Ny, as well as world-beloved, single monikered, expert on everything, Donny (yes, we have three, count 'em, 3, named world-class experts. That's 50% more than the "other guys" ), as well as the rest of our high-calibered unnamed think tank here in Georgia have concluded, on the basis of the study of this study, over the course of this morning, that the norm of Politex's IQ is a paltry 40 (this would have been lower, but one of our world-class musicologists declared the post "easy to dance to" and bumped the score up a bit.) Margin of error +/- 30.
(Get those smileys out of here, this is a serious subject!)

posted on July 19, 2001 12:32:10 PMThis is just the kind of sh*t I was going on about before with the danger of having an imbecillic president in office and how other countries are going to take advantage of it. Yesterday, a similar pact was made between Russia and Germany.
I agree with that wholeheartedly. This is just the begining, too. I dread the next few years that idiot is in office.

Oh, gee, which report from that website should I order to find more details on this study? Will I have to order all the reports to mine this gem?
I'm sure if I do, I'll find it. Like a barn full of manure, there's sure to be a horse buried in there somewhere.

How did Bush get to be a governor and then president?
In his case, it's not what you know, it's who you know. And, money. And, daddy's influence.
As for surrounding himself with the right people?
One does not need to have a high I.Q. to be a good manager. One just needs to be able to delegate.
As for convincing enough people to vote for him...
I don't think people voted for Bush as much as they voted against Gore, because they refused to disassociate him from Clinton. That was my impression, anyhow.
Do you think, if Ross Perot had been a Republican, he might have had a chance against Clinton? Or, more recently, Ralph Nader being a Democrat against Bush?
I say this because I've seen these men to have the qualities you mention in abundance...
If not, what quality or qualities do you think limited their chances?
The reason I raise this question is because I believe that there are qualities some people possess which aren't easily defined or quantified which make them "better" for a job such as President.
It is curious that much of what I've heard here and elsewhere reminds me of the old Rush Limbaugh show where Clinton got his daily bashing....great for ratings but was it really substantive? Got me...

I brought that here for fun, and to see what would happen. The usual predictable detractor did as expected, people attacked me, they attacked the source, or the methodology. But you know, not one questioned the result.
I 'd say then that we're all in agreement. Bush is a dope.

"I 'd say then that we're all in agreement. Bush is a dope."
Oh, I dunno, I think Bush is probably about average. It's just that the rest of us (like us here) are all above average, making Bush seem like a dope in comparison.

In truth...he embarrasses me as he stumbles and bumbles along. This stirs my sympathies at the same time. With each faux pas...the more likely he is to make another, poor guy.
At the same time...he has yet to piss me off, as Willy did when he addressed the people of the U.S. on TV...and lied in our faces. So far, I believe George to be honorable. Honor is very important to me. If I find him not to be...I'll spit at him, too.

I've said it before, low expectations are Bush's greatest asset. He may just low expectation himself through this job.

While suturing a laceration on the hand of a 90-year-old man (he
got his hand caught in a gate while working his cattle), a
doctor and an old man were talking about George W. being in the
White House.
The old man said, "Well, ya know, Bush is a post turtle."
Not knowing what the old man meant, the doctor asked him what a
post turtle is. The old man said, "When you're driving down a
country road, and you come across a fence post with a turtle
balanced on top, that's a post turtle.
You know he didn't get there by himself,
he doesn't belong there,
he can't get anything done while he's up there,
and you just want to help the poor dumb thing get down.

Well...Clinton made it in spite of himself...proving anything's possible. Still. It's hard to imagine Bush could be re-elected. Unless Nader helps him out, again...

donny - "Well, kraftdinner, have to admit you've got me stumped! Who knows why anyone would do anything? Certainly not me."
We aren't talking about anyone here donny. This guy holds the key to our survival, so knowing what he's thinking or what he's planning is VERY important.
camachinist - if acting stupid is his major strategic plan, he's got it licked. Then what?
