Any idea how we can get these morons to stop giving away education dollars?

Why not reinvest it in the schools rather than these @#$%#&* companies?

We are losing so many fine educators.
Can't we just pay the teachers?
Can't we hire a few more so they aren't overwhelmed with oversized classes?
Can't we help them to help our children?
Why is the solution to go outside rather than fix the system that is already in place?
Where are the teachers that our children can look to as mentors?
Have they become disenchanted from years of being overworked, underpaid, unappreciated, and over burdened?
Or are they working for Kaplan now because the pay is better?

As happy as I am that money is going to education, that link frightens me.
The pessimist in me sees the public school system go down the toilet right about now.

Pay The Teachers.
*sheesh*
sorry for the rant/vent.

I live in KY. We got long lists.

They are intending to teach my 5 year old algebra. I can't help to laugh at the image of that. I am concerned, however, that the teachers might label her stupid in the class if she doesn't do it right.

When I was in school, my teachers said how stupid I was all the time. One teacher brought in a job application for McDonalds telling me to fill it out. Said I needed to learn how to do it because that's all I'll be able to do when I grew up.

When I got into high school, the teachers would let the jocks beat me up all the time. No one cared. They killed my baby. I believe the baby was a boy. I was 2 months pregnant when they killed him. They allowed the guys to beat me up in the hallway and stomp on my stomach. I bled a lot and had cramps really bad and saw the baby. Was very small. I could make out his eye spots. It wasn't fair. And I was labeled a troublemaker for complaining about it. The assistant principal just stood there during the beating, jingling his keys like he always did. After a while into the beating all he said was, "I think she's had enough now" and they got away from me. I can still hear his keys in my mind. I ran into the girls bathroom as fast as I could, although it hurt to move. I was 16. The church told me it was my punishment for premarital sex. My bf was so happy that my baby was killed because he was nearing 30 and was scared of statutory rape charges. My mom didn't care. My dad was mad at me and blamed me for it. Everyone said it was my fault because I am such an awful person.

The high school, to get rid of me, just gave me my diploma even though I had not had all of my classes. I have one little girl now. I can't have any more children because my reproductive system is so messed up now, and I almost was unable to carry my daughter. She was born premature.

This is my experience with the school system. I don't trust anyone associated with a school. All they care about is their image instead of doing the right thing. My little girl just started school last week, and I get worried about her everyday. I have taught her to defend herself, however. All that crap about "just ignore it and it'll go away" is just crap. It doesn't go away, just either stays the same or gets worse. She had 3 boys picking on her at day care and the teacher there wouldn't intervene. I finally told my daughter next time to take up for herself. She beat up all 3 of them the very next time they messed with her, and I took her out to the movies to celebrate. I was scorned by the teacher. It is amazing that when girls and girls are fighting, or boys and boys are fighting, someone is more likely to break it up. But if it's a boy hitting on a girl, it is ignored. It's the same way with grownups too. That's why domestic violence is so prevalent in this society. Girls are trained from the time they are little to take a beating off a boy. Teachers tell her things like "just ignore him and he'll leave you alone" or "boys hit girls because they like them" and other things along that line. I was even told that I was beat up because of the way I walked.

I see it all the time in battered women today "he only got mad and hit me because he loves me so much". Battered women often ignore the problem for years thinking it will go away, just like the school system and the rest of society trains them to.

If I ever hear anyone say things like that to my daughter, I'm going to ring his/her neck. She's not going to go through what I went through.
