deliteful,

"Interesting to see how many here are worried about honoring the terrorists and defending their memories".

Maybe you'd clarify what exactly you mean by that? I have not noticed a single post which appears to have as it's intent to "honor terrorists" or "defend their memories".

I think that toke and I were discussing this problem earlier, Ken.

It's occurred to me lately, that if all knowledge and thought could be reduced to CNN visual/sound bytes, what a brave new world we could create.

I am so far behind on my reading! I will read the rest of this thread tomorrow, but my first impulse is to thank krs for printing this bit:

"This news comes on the heels of revelations that President Bush and Air Force One were
not, contrary to earlier White House claims, targets of the terrorists who attacked the
Pentagon and the World Trade Center Sept. 11. The White House is now saying that those
claims, which it used to explain why the president didn't return to Washington immediately
that day, were a result of staffers "misunderstanding" security information."

*************************************

I recall saying immediately upon hearing the [false]news, that this was probably a ploy to boost Mr. Bush's rapidly failing popularity; appealing to America for sympathy...

Well, I am glad to see that I was only wrong about it being a "ploy"...
The timing for the announcement was so off! The whole thing was so obviously false!....

Now, I shall retrieve my hard hat, and finish reading tomorrow...
