I know what you mean I've had some real doozeys! I'm going to list some items on EBay, but I'm still going to try B&H, but I will only accept an offer if they have an excellent rating or if they have good ratings on another site, that seems like the only way.

Deadbeat bidders along with scam and potential scam artists flock to the small size public online auction sites !! Which means that all of these sites should and Must have better Policing policies and personnel that know the real from the fake.. just at a glance a real pro can spot a duh!! immediately 99% of the time.. not hard to see and do, but hardly any site cares enough so they continue to attract the low-life auction user
Oh, and those famous but awful words.. by most sites is, we will not interfere with an auction ! duh!!
I say, clean it up or get out of the business.

Hi peachsupreme:
Chances are you do not have a lot of feedback on a new site like B&H. This would
make you just as much of a "duh" as a new buyer with 0 feedback.
You can't tell who is bad? I have sold on Yahoo and ebay for three years and I still get bad bid's.
It's part of the job: (Blind Trust).

I hope the B&H people frequent AW threads. I have two deadbeats and have been trying to correspond with them, but one way conversation isn't cutting it. B&H has no way to request an FVF much less a non-paying bidder alert. I intend on sending an email to B&H tonight in regard to these two people but have little hope that anything will be done or that my email will be read, much less answered. I realize they are growing, but I have sent them three emails over the last month on various matters and cannot get even a "get lost" email from them. I find this very frustrating and not a good way to start/conduct a business. I hope this is not the case, but I get the feeling that I sell the item, they charge me a commission and if the buyer does not pay, well too bad, I (B&H) got my money. I would like some reassurance that sellers will be protected too.
Are ya listening B&H???

I have asked for FVF back after some deadbeat buyers. Can someone who has actually had these refunded, tell me where to look on my invoice to find the credits?
People are talking about spotting a potential deadbeat. I don't understand how you can tell if they have no feedback. At least half of my buyers on BnH have been new.

I would like to post that I received an email from the CEO of B&H. As I suspected they are experiencing growing pains and things were behind. He looked into the matter and I did get an answer to my questions. Thank you.
Thinking about it personally I don't know if I would want to be in his shoes experiencing such growth and attempting to keep up with it. I have great expectations for B&H and will do my best to support the growth of the site.

Do not despair! Bargain and Haggle just sent me a letter. They intend to seriously crack down on deadbeat buyers. They implemented a "three strike and you are out" policy, on non paying buyers. They also have a Request Credit page, that you can fill out.
I thought every one of you will be happy with the progress they are making to keep us sellers happy:wedoclick

Wedoclick,
Thanks for that post - that is great news! I really love this site - I've had terrific success in my short time there. I think the concept of giving "control" of a transaction to both the buyer and seller is a great concept, but I too am concerned with the slow pay/deadbeat bidders that have occurred. It's good to hear that B&H is taking steps to address this.
You mentioned a Request for Credit page that can be filled out. Is this within their website? Can you direct me as to where please?? I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

The link to the credit page was in the BargainandHaggle newsletter they sent out this morning. You have to subscribe to receive it but it's a fun read.
Here's the part with the link. Sounds like they mean business!
-----------------------------------------
NON-PAYING BUYERS STINK! We all get them occasionally. You know, the
buyer that backs out on a deal claiming that he injured himself in a
Blimp accident over the Rose Bowl and he doesn't remember ever making
an offer. Until now, it has been somewhat difficult to find where to
request a credit. We have remedied this situation with our new
'Request for Credit' form (clever name, isn't it?)
http://www.bargainandhaggle.com/contact/credit_form.asp
And by the way, NON-PAYING BUYERS BEWARE! Our team of crack-pot
scientists are currently working on a software program that allows
us to chop off fingers right over the internet. They tested it out
on me last week and I now have only one ear (Don't worry about me,
I'll grow my hair long and everything will be fine). They are getting
close to perfecting the technology and when they do, we are coming
after you!

Thanks eSeller!!
Now another quick question - how do you subscribe to their newsletter? I can't find it anywhere on their site.
Thanks!

eMak,
Go to the Your Account section and look all the way at the bottom. There is a box that you can check to receive information from them.

In three months, I have had 17 succesful offers = "auction won". To date, I have had NO deadbeats! But believe me, I know that could change TODAY! I love B & H - especailly since they are cracking down on these folks (thanks eSeller for posting the link for that)!

I hate to say this but BargainandHaggle has been the only site where I've had deadbeat bidders. Never had one on eBay, Yahoo, Amazon, or ePier yet, although some have been very slow to pay. Knock on wood. Haven't had one on Bidville either --- then again I have yet to make any sales on Bidville.
To BargainandHaggle's credit they've been real easy to deal with in obtaining FVF refunds.

eSeller004,
You must be kidding? B&H is the only site? I hate to say this. But! Just maybe you don't sell anything a deadbeat bidder would want?
"No insult intended"
BUT!
I find your post a little unique to say the least.

Thanks for the FVF refund info! They got the info for my first 13 today. I still have 4 more that look like they might go that way. I'm very glad they made this so much easier! One thing I saw on that page, they said they would remove negs from deadbeats. If anyone has gotten one yet, you might want to contact them.

collectstocks2,
You might be right. I sell mostly collectibles (not sports memorabilia) that attract ardent collectors. They're mostly very respectable folks who pay quick and offer few problems. I also set all my prices high (at the minimum I'm willing to accept) so people don't bid on my auctions unless they seriously want the item. BargainandHaggle is a little different where bidders try to drive down the price of items.
Although even when I sold trading cards, comics, and things less mature buyers would find attractive, I still didn't get deadbeat bidders on other sites. Guess I've been lucky.
