those are huge drops in the last 24 hours. we might now see the fallout of this whole fee thing this weekend. dont most people do their listings over the weekend?

Keep in mind this data reflects three days:
-13.7% Antiques, Art, & Collectibles > Miscellaneous > Postcards
-10.1% Antiques, Art, & Collectibles > Miscellaneous > Maps
-12.3% Coins, Paper Money, & Stamps > Coins > United States
-12.3% Coins, Paper Money, & Stamps > Stamps > United States
-23.1% Computers > Hardware > PC
-15.4% Computers > Software > PC
-19.7% Entertainment > Books > Antique and Rare
-16.6% Entertainment > Movies > DVD
-16.0% Entertainment > Movies > Video Tapes
-13.1% Entertainment > Music > CDs
-15.2% Average for groups
If this downtrend continues over the next three days, Yahoo!Auctions will have lost approximately one million, or one-third, of its listings by next Tuesday, January 16.
Their total listings would then be approximately two million, down from the three million that's been put forward by brokerage firm reports.
And they haven't even gotten to those relists yet!

yeah right. they need to look at ebay. fees or no fees 'junk' postings are going to remain on auction sites unless they start reviewing items before they go to the site.

Yes, BUT this is not an accurate comparison because your starting numbers are Jan 10th. Now, we all know that many sellers listed a TON of items right before the fees took place, so, I suspect the listings on Jan 10th were far above normal, an inflated starting point. A truer test would be if your starting figure was the number of auctions the day before the announcement of the pending fees, that would be a fair starting number for comparison........

what difference would it make? if they started on the 9th then we would see the numbers go up from the 9th to the 10th then fall sharply like weve seen the last few days.

Yes, you're correct. I think they are reasonable estimates, however, since we have seen sharp declines from the getgo. Looks like only a small number of sellers actually listed new items with two relists, or cancelled their current auctions and then relisted them with two relists.

is anyone sending these stats to YAFOOL? I'm sure they are observing the same but we should let them know that we are looking at the decline also. They aren't the only ones able to interpret stats.

Then you would see REAL opinions of everyday users. They are the exact opposite of your alleged "top rated sellers" y_auctions_guest: We spend a lot of time on all these boards and clubs.
And I'm sure they are still hold up in the Yahoo!Auctions bunker watching the collapse of their auction site in realtime.

Yes there was a last chance listing binge on 1/9 but it generally seemed to inflate the numbers by less than 10%. Many categories unaffected, there probably are some with greater bulges but I didn't notice any such. Very few of those posted 1/9 would have closed by now, so they would tend to affect such early % decline figures in the other direction.
Evidence is that someone at yahoo reads this board. But they don't need to for this information, they should be able to tell exactly how many paid listings (and how many with free bonus money) are being posted (which we can't).

Well, we'll know in about 27 days which New Listings are paid for. I know of almost 400 that will be missing.

Thanks VeryModern. Guess I don't know about credits. Are those what you got for transferring from another auction or something? All I had was the 2x's relist. I'm using those and then I'm out. Although I do hate leaving 'cause I've enjoyed it for the most part 'til now.

dreamgirl - believe me, I am as sick as you are. I have been #1 Yahoo supporter on these boards for 9 mos or so - I must have written over 1000 posts favorable to them - that's no kidding. Come to think of it, I probably wrote 500 posts about Yahoo on the aw Ebay board alone, I've nearly been scalped alive over there for supporting Yahoo (and Paydirect).
On the credits - they were handed out in 2 rounds $1 credit per 1 ebay feedback in the last several months and so many of us have hundreds and even thousands of dollars to spend on listing fees.

Well I dont have no credits but I do have alot of confusion in my mind for sure.
I relisted the better part of my items and added a few new before fees started hopeing the upword trend in bidding on my stuff there would continue so far it hasnt even veiws have dropped again.
What money is it yahoo is thinking I can pay them to list with if I have $0 in sales for the week.
I have already pumped my personal time effort in to listing item there week after week and I have invested money in inventory to sell if I list this stuff and it dont sell I have no $$ to relist with simple.
Smart business dont take there personal money to run there business and if yahoo management thinks business does do this why dont they all sign there paychecks back over to yahoo inc. to incress yahoo earnings.

The 1st number is Monday 1/8
Antiques>Art & Collectibles> Home & Garden>Porcelain>Precious Moments
3700 PLUS the evening on 1/8
3468 at 11:59 p.m. 1/9
3244 at 11:59 p.m. 1/11
3047 at 11:59 p.m. 1/12
2981 present 1/13
This is a category that was 4100 plus the week of Christmas. I have NEVER seen numbers fall in this category on a Friday. I personnally have 180 auctions in this category that will soon be gone. Another seller in this category says he will be gone after automatic relists, that's another 220 plus that will be gone.
Today was the first time I have had to take an anti-depressent in over 6 months (been terribly depressed since the listing fee anouncement), thanks Yahoo, at least the drug companies will be making some $$$.
