I think that if nothing else, the fear by many Americans ae expressed in that article. Whether there is a plot by Mexicans to take over the American Southwest, many Americans fear that their goals extend to the entire North American continent.
The validity of these American fears will be verified by the Mexican people themselves, not just selected quotes by officials who set national policies. I personally have met some mexicans here illgally that do feel as though they have every right to walk across the border, take whatever jobs they can get, sit on public benefits as long as they like, and we're supposed to shut up and act as if that's their right to do so. Conversly, I have met many others who are grateful and quiet and mind their own business and are just trying to survive.
As far as I am concerned, not one single person from anywhere else in the world shuld be allowed to enter this country illegally. Period. I wasn't in favor of that blanket amnesty back inthe 1980's and I'm not for it now. We have every right to say who comes into our country and for what purpose. Those who beleive otherwise would do well to recall that it was sentiments just like that, that allowed the 9-11 suiciders to do what they did.
I personally don't care what a benefit that it is for illegal aliens to be here -- it's illegal, it's a crime, and more than that, it's just plain bad manners. You don't walk into someone's house without knocking first, not if you were raised with any manners you wouldn't. If you owned a large farm or ranch, you would appreciate strangers coming up first to ask you for permission to cross your fields and pastures, than to find out that they've done it behind your back with complete disreguard for you and your authority.
Entering into this country illegally, in my mind, is no different than that. The only way to solve this problem, if we could, would be to beef up the boarders with millitary and gear, as well as boarder guards. The reason fgor the millitary is that millitary personelle tend to get reassigned to other missions. Therefore, any member being bribed to look the other way will have double-danger of being caught and the bribers will have to contineously bribe new people, making it very expensive. Then we would have to create gulag-factories and mines up in Alaska in the Artic Circle: cement mines, salt mines, etc. We then fill them up with illegal immigrants. Homeland security can classify them as sabateurs and send them incommunicatto for life at hard, long labor at the gulags. That would send a chilling message to would-be illegal immigrants and would be a real disincentive to enter America illegally. I can't see how to do it otherwise without a full-scale shooting war.

junquemama - The links that were in your URL made for interesting reading. Thanks. I personally don't think most of those who aren't living in [or near] the boarder areas can fully appreciate the problems this causes. The governors of those states are grouping together to work towards making the Federal government understand what it's doing to their states economies.
As I've stated before, I'd like to see the boarders [both North and South] locked up tighter.

The only kids on Retalin(that I know)are white.Macho Mexican males do not correct their children,The children are free to do as they wish,Doesnt matter where they are.Theft is incouraged,and practised by large familys.The favorite game is the swarm,The family members swarm a seller or area of the store and keep a salesperson very busy,In the mean time 1/3 of the goods are carted off by the other members.
The garage sales are hit by these swarms,A van pulls up...15 people jump out and start grabbing,they go up to the person who is the seller and start dickering for a better price.The better items go to the van...sight un-seen.The so-so items are put back or bought for 50 cents.Before anyone says that they are so poor,they have to steal,I assure you some have new trucks,and their homes are paid for.Most of the swarms go to the border towns to resale to the border crossers at the local flea markets.These people do not have to show a tax number or pay taxes.
I have some hispanic friends here,They have lived here most of their lives,Work hard,polite to all and stay out of trouble.The east side of Austin reminds me of the interior of Mexico,10 foot high chain fences around the house,each with a Pit Bull or some other big dog,in the yard.We do have gangs,They are low profile,and when the Police find a Mexican male dead on the streets with his pockets turned inside out,I wonder if the gangs are just doing robberys and murder.When the Cops have a name of someone they are looking for...."They" head back to Mexico to hide.
Most do not believe in insurance,You are up a creek if you get hit by a drunk,and there is a lot of "them" ,with that problem.
Most of the women,do want to better themselves(been here a while)and I applaud them,Trouble is they have to go home to a Macho male,who just might be a little jealous
Of their progress.There are some mindsets that come across the border,That don't need to be here.
This is what I see,If it makes me a racist to tell my side of the storie,so be it.
Better yet,come here and prove me wrong.

junquemama...how much of that article is real? ALL of it's real...how much of what Louis Farrakhan and his ilk say is real? ALL of it is really being said by them too, and so is all of what the good Christians at Bob Jones University preach, and all of what the radical Islamists around the world teach.Does that mean we should assume that all Muslims are terrorists?..that all Blacks are anti semitic bigots?..that all protestant whites are racial separatists?...or...that all Mexicans and Chicanos want to take back the US Southwest? I have no doubt that most "Hispanics" are just trying to pay their bills and provide the best for their families, like human beings everywhere.There are extremists and nuts in every group...this is just another example of the kind of fear mongering that solves nothing..
"Aztlan" is the mythical Aztec homeland..if I remember from graduate school correctly, it's likely location was in the state of Nyarit, not exactly the US Southwest... it has been co-opted by these pendejos to their own ends, much as "Jihad" was co-opted by the Islamists,and "Aryan" was co-opted first by Hitler, and now by the skin-head lowlifes who march around zeig-heiling each other..
Having said all that...the "Hispanic" population is one of the fastest growing groups in the US, not due entirely to immigration either. There are relatively few legal immigrations from Mexico, and illegals are more than likely reluctant to fill out census forms...I read an estimate recently that predicted California's population would double to 62 million by 2040, and that 21 million of those folks would be "Hispanic"..most of those people will not have snuck across the border, they will be US citizens..so it is likely that the demographics of the US are going to change radically in the next few decades...not by the force advocated by a bunch of idiots who are no better than there counterparts from other cultures and races, but by the sure and inevitable process of reproduction.
