If sex were easier to get (for everybody) I think we as a society wouldn't be so obsessed with it. In Panama, you could get sex anytime you want and they didn't seem to have the sick stuff going on like we do here in the states like child molesters, rapists, etc.

TWELVEPOLE: Interesting cost comparison but totally off-base. (Unless you're talking about the over-the-hill, hang around the corner grunge hooker). The current rate for an "established" prostitute is between $300. and $500. Of course, that's the Northern California rate where everything costs more!
Before you ask.... I do tax returns for 3 of these "ladies". Smart, classy and attractive and all excellent business women.

if you just want sex,professionals have more to offer and no string attached.
some of these girls are just simply gorgeous and they are good listeners and willing to please.
if you want marriage or a relationship,then most people would be looking elsewhere.
some men are maverick,they marry prostitutes and dont care what others think,but most mortals cannot do that.
my question is-what kind of depreciation method do they use on their asset,it seems none of the GAAP method is fast enough ??

I have a client that runs an escort agency in San Diego with sister co. in LA and LV. $250 an hour is the starting rate. The more specifics you require, the more the rates raise.

Stop - nope. Escorts get paid per hour with a flat rate for an "all nighter". Some have a minimum number of hours - usualy two... and no, they do not pro-rate
Street walkers charge according to services rendered.

Yes but considering the number of girls and agencies that are now setting two hour minimums, you are going to pay for the time anyway.
I guess really there are three established levels of prostitution.
There are street walkers, escorts, and the lesser known outcall masseurs or dancers.
They are the middle ground. Basically a discount escort but if you are looking for a dinner date or decent conversation ... the ones I met when an old roommate was working as a driver for these types were dumb as a rock and considered Denny's to be good dinner fare.

i am a frustrated social worker,never get to practice what i studied in college,may as well,as the turnover rate among social workers are very high.
if we take an objective view on the oldest profession in the world and i do mean the WORLD,you see jewish women hawking their bodies to the roman soldier when they seized jerusalem,how else can they feed themselves and their elderly parents?
you see women in traditional societies who are left to fend for themselves after their husband or father can no longer support them,or no longer around to support them??
what skills do they have and what job opportunity does the society have to offer them??after Meiji restoration,japanese samurais were no longer needed and their daughters and wives have no means of supporting themselves,so they sell their bodies.
of course there are some who do it to earn some extra income to afford whatever they desire.
is it bad??peddling your own flesh??
do these women really break up marriages and make men abandon their obligation as father and good husband,i doubt it.
if the only income producing asset these women have is their body,and they deploy it to put food on the table,it is in some way no different than a farmer using a hoe to farm in the fields or a carpenter or soldier performing their duty.
it is degrading,humiliating and often dangerous and short lived.
but if this is what they choose to do,it is their choice.
i have seen women who choose to be housemaids and wash toilet bowls and i have seen women who choose to sell their flesh,people are different,and i dont think looks is the driving force behind their decision.
