Getting drunk and doing karoke can be a really a fun thing!! One time we had an office party and me these three ladies got up and did what? and why -god knows - Marvin Gays 'whats goin on' -- We sounded like sick pups at the end.... Couldnt reach any of those notes... But we laughed so hard at our own ridiculousness!
Maggie, I used to have a good voice... but years of smoking took its toll. Now I only sound good when I can sing a raspy song
..
..
What song are those lyrics from btw? I can't seem to place them???

You know Neroter, that's exactly how I thought your voice would be.. do you still smoke? It's been a long time since I drank to much and sang in public....but I'm saving the video tapes and will stipulate that they are played and viewed at my funeral.. Hee hee...

Maggie, that would really make people cry to see you having fun....dont do that!! No, I quit about 3 years ago, but the vocal cords were already damaged. I could hit some like barbara streisand high notes at one time when I was younger!! LOL> But could never do it in public so for my own pleasure in the shower, if you know what I mean!
I always like Carly Simon's lyrics. Her singing wasnt always that great, but she had/has an odd quality to her.
Maggie, I imagine you must be alot of fun to be around in RL. Yesterday at the flea me and a friend found this pizza spatula. You know the big ones they use in the resturants with real pizza ovens? Well, she picked it up and started in with it with an italian accent, melding into chinese and other things.... I was picking up a cruet off a table saying' you wanna some vino widdad that? We laughed. She bought the thing too!
Walked right off with it over her shoulder. And I told her she looked like one of the hi-ho dwarfs from snow white!! lol.

LOL Neroter... The people who know me, friends and family, would expect something like that at my funeral.. either that or a recording of me coming from the casket and saying, "thaaattttssallllfolks"
Thanks for thinking I'd be fun in RL... but I'm actually the only person I know that can stand me.. but I like me just fine.. HA!
Time for bed and a good book.. Maggie

How about this one?
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they`re red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail to the chief",
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,
It ain`t me, it ain`t me, I ain`t no senator`s son, son.
It ain`t me, it ain`t me; I ain`t no fortunate one, no,
Bigots are miserable people. Prevent Bigotry through Education.

Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that it didn't hurt and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert.

How about this one? A little harder.
You don't know how
Much I need you.
While you're near me,
I don't feel blue
And when we kiss
I know you need me too.
I can't believe I've found a love
That's so pure and true.
But it all was bull shi-t.
It was a God damn joke
And when I think of you, Xxxxxx,
I hope you fuc*kin' choke.

Birds flying high
You know how I feel
Sun in the sky
You know how I feel
Reeds driftin' on by
You know how I feel
It's a new dawn
It's a new day
It's a new life
For me.........

maggie: that Holiday Inn in Houston wouldn't have been the one across from the AstroDome would it? I spent about every third week in Houston for several years in my job. I would drive down on Monday from Ft. Worth and come home on Friday evening. I love Houston and had some great times there. That Holiday Inn was a hoot.

Etex.. no, the Holiday Inn was in North Houston. It was good fun! There were a couple of very talented singers who were regulars... I miss Houston, but it has changed since I lived there, I lived just north of FM1960 .. Mags

Fenix - Muse? I have no idea! (For once.)
Here's one only cool people will get....
It's these little things, they can pull you under.
Live your life filled with joy and thunder.
Yeah, yeah we were altogether
Lost in our little lives.
P.S. - Yeager, great song! If it wasn't so long, it would be a good signature line.
~ Fortunate Son ~
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
Ooh, they’re red, white and blue.
And when the band plays hail to the chief,
Ooh, they point the cannon at you, lord,
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no senator’s son, son.
It ain’t me, it ain’t me; I ain’t no fortunate one, no,
Yeah!
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don’t they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman comes to the door,
Lord, the house looks like a rummage sale, yes,
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no millionaire’s son, no.
It ain’t me, it ain’t me; I ain’t no fortunate one, no.
Some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
Ooh, they send you down to war, lord,
And when you ask them, how much should we give?
Ooh, they only answer more! more! more! yoh,
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no military son, son.
It ain’t me, it ain’t me; I ain’t no fortunate one, one.
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain’t me, it ain’t me, I ain’t no fortunate son, no no no,

Tex & Krafty - It is Feeling Good but I was thinking of the Nina Simone version. If you watch HBO you remember it from the promos for Six Feet Under this season. Sexy, grindy, bluesy...
Krafty - Sweetness Follows.... REM - Too bad they included it in such a horrible movie
OK - Next song...
Well, we're big rock singers
We got golden fingers
And we're loved everywhere we go.....
We sing about beauty and we sing about truth
At ten-thousand dollars a show.....

I loved that song along with a few more off the album when I was a kid. Took it to school once in 4th or 5th grade. Took me a few more years to understand why my teach was so appalled I would bring an album titled Sloppy Seconds which included a song title Get My Rocks Off.... not to mention this little diddie http://www.lyricsbox.com/dr-hook-lyrics-freakers-ball-wqnn69l.html.
WARNING - Lyrics on link could offend the more delicate among us and amuse the hell out of the rest.... especially when pictured being sung by niave non comprehending 5th grader. .

Shel Siverstein's songs put Dr. Hook in the money; virtually all their hits are Shel's songs. He also authored several award winning children's books. Too bad he is gone!

Here's one for Bush when he'll need a good stiff drink on Nov 2.
From the early 50's.
There's a tear in my beer,
and I'm cryin for you dear,
you were always on my mind,
I cried and I cried,
but the tears would not dry,
you were always on my mind

Put a call in to the President
He wouldn't come to the phone
Now, how in the hell can a person
Feel safe and secure at home
When all the decisions are being made
By big boys getting stoned?

Here's an easy one:
"Well I heard Mr. Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A southern man don’t need him around anyhow."
